Hi all,
I hope you are all getting better and managing. I am coming upto the Anniversary of my head injury. I am now working full time and am back going the gym twice a week, and I am off all medication. I am also really quite fatigued again, but it is nothing like before. Recently I noticed my gums and teeth tingling or going numb. Today I had numbness on one side of my head and then headache on the other side. I am wondering if this could be migraine? Subsequently I took a Triptan for the first time in 3 months to see if it settles. It is strange how you can feel completely normal for several weeks and then this happens. Quite strange

Hi Mouse
It's great you are making such good progress, but I understand about the symptoms returning after a few weeks. This happens to me , you think it's all over then suddenly you get a return of head ache or twinge. I think you need to be aware of anything you might have done to bring on the symptoms, maybe you over did it the day before . I read somewhere that our symptoms are our friend as they are telling us to take it easy. So listen to your body and go with it not against it. I know it's frustrating but you have come such a long way so focus on that positive note. Our brain is like a computer it's gets the occasion glitch . Good luck and keep healing Nine lives x |

Thanks for this advice, your right about some of the symptoms, particularly fatigue being there to help guide you.
The tingling/numbness in the gums and fatigue I have now is a damn sight better that the multiple PCS symptoms I had before. It is a long slow road, but I am lucky because the symptoms are small in comparison to months ago. The triptan didn't work by the way. However maybe getting back to basics, reducing computer use, resting and not doing so much might be the answer. I feel 10 years older if I am honest! I have an Occupational Health appointment soon and they have been good so far. I have been moved closer to home for part of the week (10 mins from home instead of 45 mins), and I have a desk lamp instead of flouresant lighting - it is all helping me.

The only thing I notice now is that the tingling and numbness in my gums and teeth is now constant from the time I wake to the time I go to bed. When I told my doctor on the phone he said he wants to see me, so maybe everything hasn't healed after all.
This could have been going on for some time, but was probably disguised by the Cymbalta which I took, who knows? I have been off that for a few months now. The numbness used to come and go, but now it is constant.

Well it seems like you are doing all the right things to help reduce your symptoms.
And it's good you are seeing the doctor about that numbness in your gums. As you say in your post things are much better than before, so that is really good to hear. I notice things appearing now and again, but I try to remind myself they are no way near as bad as a year ago. I found yoga and reflexology to be of great help, any thing that relieved stress helped. Last weekend we had the Inlaws to stay and I completely freaked out prior to their arrival. I phoned my husband, who was playing golf to come home right away as I couldn't cope. But now when I look back I can't believe I got so stressed. So I think we just need to be aware of our triggers. But from what you say in your post it sounds like you are aware of yours .let us know about the numbness in your gums and how you get on, be interested to know what causes that. Take Care Nine lives x |

mouse,
I would ask some questions to a dentist also. Someone who can do the mouth x-rays and whatnot. It could also be part of TMJ. The numbness in the mouth would worry me to no end. I hope you find what is going on. Regards,. Consider (Elisa)
