I had been getting better, but since stopping Cymbalta progress has slowed.
Last Friday I had six pints of beer over a 6 hour period, so I was merry not drunk. It is the most I have drunk since the accident. Unfortunately I got up in the middle of the night and one moment I was walking into the bathroom and the next flat on my face. I cannot remember anything. The last time this happened was January when I had severe PCS and this resulted in another CT scan. I hit my head in November last year. Seeing my doctor for blood results due to continual mouth numbness. I am going to ask about A) An MRI scan B) Referral to Neurologist C) Re-starting Cymbalta

What Happened: On November 29, 2010, I was walking across the street and was hit by a light rail commuter train. Result was a severe traumatic brain injury and multiple fractures (skull, pelvis, ribs). Total hospital stay was two months, one in ICU followed by an additional month in neuro-rehab. Upon hospital discharge, neurological testing revealed deficits in short term memory, executive functioning, and spatial recognition. Today: Neuropsychological examination five months post-accident indicated a return to normal cognitive functioning, and I returned to work approximately 6 months after the accident. I am grateful to be alive and am looking forward to enjoying the rest of my life. |

Thanks, I am fully aware of this, and don't think that I will drink this much again. I have had 5 pints in the past but had a very bad hangover the next day, I was shocked that I had a blackout, I am just wondering if something else is going on like diabetes because I am getting a lot of numbness and alcohol can make blood sugars plummet.

So sorry to hear of you setback. But you really should not drink alcohol.!!! I love a glass of wine but like you it affected me so now I don't drink period. Even if I make a full recovery I still don't think I'll ever drink again. It's just so bad for you, not only brain but liver damage. Also like you blacking out you could hit your head again. I think you are right to seek your doctors opinion re the numbness. That will give you some answers. Good luck , promise me no more alcohol ? Xxx Carole x |

I can't even drink 2 beers over three hours with food.... I used to be able to drink beer like it was water. I have beer in the fridge of course, but it isn't for me. It is for guests now
![]() I'm rambling so my tl;dr is: I also cannot drink, and I'd recommend that you avoid alcohol as well. I am 3 months post-injury for reference. |

Well I am back on Cymbalta again now because 10 months post injury things aren't as good as 8 months post injury when I was on it. Hopefully this will help my recovery and resolve fatigue, headaches and numbness that I have.
I have been referred to hospital for investigations as to whether the blackout I had was a seizure.

At 30mg the Cymbalta has reduced/disguised the numbness and got rid of the headaches. So I am uncertain as to why at 11 months since injury I need Cymbalta, but I suppose it is something I have to take for a while longer.

Hi Mouse.
I guess we all heal differently, maybe it's your body's way of telling you that you need more time. It's good that your numbness is reduced. I find that on some days I can feel as bad as I did a few months back, but it will just be an odd day now and again like this. Then the next day I am good again. We still need to be aware of what our body tells us and act accordingly It's a long road to recovery but the scenic route is best. I wish you luck in your healing. I know you will get there.
