Default A real pain in the neck?

Sorry if I'm retreading the same ground here. I was diagnosed with post concussion syndrome a month and a half ago. I'm still experiencing dizziness, brain fog, and visual disturbances.

I'm sure this has been covered before, but is it possible this "head" injury actually stems from a pinched nerve in the neck? Whiplash occurs when the muscles in the neck contract suddenly.

I know that stress exacerbates our symptoms, and for that reason, it seems like rest is the general recommendation. I'm wondering, does stress cause symptoms because it tightens muscles in the neck, putting pressure on these tangled nerves? And maybe recovery entails keeping the muscles in the neck relaxed for long enough that these bundled nerves have the chance to relax and straighten themselves out again?

Here's a whole forum of people who are describing the symptoms I'm having perfectly, and none of them mentions post concussion syndrome.

I can't post links, so you will have to search for the phrase "Head pressure, Spaced out, foggy, dizzy, fatigue, top neck ache" on BetterMedicine

I have an appointment with a massage therapist who specializes in whiplash injuries this afternoon, and I will report back if I get any relief.

Default Neck

Hi sleepyboy

Yes, we are all taking about PCS (post concussion syndrome here) ( :
I have read many times here where others suggest that you get your neck checked out too because being out of alignment in the neck can mimic concussion symptoms or PCS.

I am not sure who should look at your neck, but it's a good idea to be careful with chiropracters so they are careful and gentle. There is such a thing as a neruo chiaropracter and I can't spell that at all.

We all have different symptoms too, so share yours and people will come around and let you know what their experience is.

All for now,

[SIZE="1"]What happened. I was in a car accident 2-23-2013, and got a mild concussion from it. I had some time off for brain rest, got somewhat better, but slipped into PCS in March 2013.

Symptoms I had: dizziness, light and sound sensitivity, fatigue, tinitis, occasional headaches and migraines,

Symptoms as of 5--2013: poor sleep, tinitis, some confusion /short term memory blanks, balance. The other symptoms are mostly gone, but flare up if I OVERdo something.

Therapy I had: vestibular

3 months in: I could drive more and for longer distances. I felt like a younger, happier version of myself and I feel so blessed to have this feeling.

9 months in and I am working full time. I do get tired, and some sound and light sensitivity from time to time, but mostly I am over most of my symptoms.
I pray every day and I m praying for your recovery.

Over a year in: I can multi task (limited) and have humor in my life. But when I am tired, I am very tired.

Upper neck injuries often exacerbate Post Concussion Symptoms and can confuse doctors and patients alike. Upper neck therapy should be VERY gentle. These vertebra have very weak mechanics and need gentle manipulation and good posture to start to heal.

Hope she helps.

My best to you.

You could have symptoms caused by the neck and from a brain injury. My headaches/migraines come from multiple sources. Always have the neck checked too. It can be one of the causes. Muscles can also cause this pain. A neurologist experienced with TBIs and head injuries plus a pain management dr could help along with PT.

I've been told to avoid chiro with my injuries by everyone I've seen, BUT I know they have helped many people here.

Peace and healing, Jace

Just an update. The massage didn't alleviate the brain fog. Starting to accept that this is just going to take time. :/
