Default headache and head pressure

i have daily headaches when will it get better?

i read that mild (less sever) head injuries tend to cause chronic daily headaches, where as severe head injury are less likely to get chronic headaches.

Sorry to hear you are having headaches daily. I go through periods where i have many days in a row...and then a period of less pain. I always saw the terrible period as one of growth and a necessary step to healing. But it is awful!!! I have less headaches now, which is very good news.

I started 10 mg of nortryptiline last month for the headaches. I have had less of them, which is encouraging.

Getting more of my life back slowly...there is hope!!!! Hang in there. You will get better.

Are you working? Using computer or tv or cell phone a lot? That can bring on headaches. You probably sttill need lots of quiet rest time.
Take care! Chat soon.

What happened: Legs pulled forward by a parent's hockey stick while resting at the side of the rink at a family skate....sent me straight back. I hit the back of my head (with helmet) on the ice, bounced a few times, unconscious for a few minutes. September 11, 2011. Off work since then…I work part-time at home when I can. It has been hell but slowly feeling better (when I am alone☺).

Current symptoms: Vision problems (but 20/20 in each eye alone!) – convergence insufficiency – horizontal and vertical (heterophoria), problems with tracking and saccades, peripheral vision problems, eyes see different colour tints; tinnitus 24/7 both ears; hyperacusis (noise filter gone!), labyrinthian (inner ear) concussion, vestibular dysfunction (dizzy, bedspins, need to look down when walking); partial loss of sense of smell; electric shocks through head when doing too much; headaches; emotional lability; memory blanks; difficulty concentrating. I still can’t go into busy, noisy places. Fatigue. Executive functioning was affected – multi-tasking, planning, motivation. Slight aphasia. Shooting pain up neck and limited mobility at neck. Otherwise lucky!

Current treatments: Vestibular therapy, Vision therapy, amantadine (100 mg a day), acupuncture and physiotherapy for neck, slow return to exercise, magnesium, resveratrol, omega 3 fish oils, vitamins D, B and multi. Optimism and perserverance.

Curious, You state you had all the appropriate tests mri's etc... was your mri of your cspine or brain? I also read a a milder form of head injury seems to result in chronic headache issues. What has your neurologist told you?

Yes MRI of my brain was done, I am scheduled for a cervical MRI dont have date yet...

Just couldn't fine the reason why less severe head injuries have chronic headaches.

Your right Mokey as I push my self...the head pressure, head pain and ringing in the ears come on full force. I mean how long does it take to get close to normal?? This is insane the amount of agony we go through?? I feel like "shooting myself in the head" sometimes..it's hell.

I'm only 2 months into this whole process so I'm a newbie. I was also having constant headaches---all day, every day. My reg. dr. put me on Amitriptyline 25 mg and told me it was good for chronic pain sufferers.

It was helping because I was getting relief from the headaches. There were times during the day that I didn't have a headache at all. But, I was still having severe headaches about 3-4 times a week.

I just saw the neurologist for the first time and he upped my dosage to 50 mg and also gave me Fioricet to take as soon as a headache starts. I've only been on the changed meds for 3 days but so far no real headaches, just twinges or sharp pains that go away after a few seconds. It's been a welcome change!

I hope you can find some relief.

ED,

Hope you are feeling better than before. Nobody seems to know what is causing my headaches.

I used to get a crushing sensation and very deep headaches - this was eventually controlled well with 30mg Cymbalta daily and Imigran (6 tablets per month).

I am still on Cymbalta 30mg 1 year and 2 months after my concussion, but have now been diagnosed with Neuralgia and am on 100mg Lyrica daily. This combination works really well now and I barely have symptoms.

All headaches are different, but mine have changed as time has passed, decreasing in severity.

After two CT's last year I am now finally due an MRI next week.
