Smirk Vertigo

I am now just over one year since my TBI. I realise now, that the unbalanced, dizzy feeling is Vertigo!

Wow. You know, I have taken the dogs for walks of 4km, ridden a horse again, and now have swum the Midmar mile, which is a race across a dam in the KwaZulu Natal midlands, and all with this feeling of Vertigo.

I could have just gone back to bed, but as far as I am concerned, life is too short for that it took me about 10 months, but I finally realized that I will never go back to being the same person, and my lift now is taking on a new journey of adventure and discovery.

My neurologist has told me that I may be five to ten years recovering from mt injury. It was diffuse axonal injury, and from the sound of my horse riding fall, I am lucky to be alive, so I have to go forward now, accepting the new person I have become.

Come on all of you! Try hard the brain does not recover by staying in your house all day. Go out and enjoy life! Yes, Life!!
