I just started a new part time job this past Monday and it is going well. I am being trained at the library and the amount of new information I am processing might be the reason why I am getting headaches. The headaches gradually, but quickly, disappear when I get home. Today I did not get a headache, so I am hopeful it will not be a problem. I am still on Nortriptyline every other day. When I do take it, I get tremors at night so looking forward to ending that, although it has helped a lot with my headaches. I am decreasing my Gabapentin to 200mg. Overall my energy is good and part of this is due to having motivation, purpose and a schedule outside our home to keep me focused on something else besides staring at the walls of our home and the more nuanced symptoms of PCS.
This is all very encouraging and exciting, and I am grateful to the community here because it helped me through the most difficult time. I am 8 months post concussion, and feel like this is just now the right time to add a part time job. Although this might sound like a long time to some of you just starting off, it is an incredible feeling of progress and feel that it is certainly a sign of good progress yet to come. I can hardly believe I'm feeling better. I still have to be ever mindful of my situation, but I am so full of gratitude and like many have written before, I feel like a far better person and more fulfilled person than before, despite my new limitations. I like my new pace and it has allowed me to see how much is lost when we are running our lives so quickly and filling each minute, without leaving room for observation and mindfulness for ourselves and others.

In July 2013 ran into a metal bar at a playground, remained conscious. CT normal. Headache subsided after a week. In August woke with thunderclap-type headache in right side of head, right eye was droopy. Ever since had electrical-type pulsating all over when falling asleep and during sleep. Strong muscle twitching occasionally. Chest pain in heart region, front left neck region, and left shoulder. Strong heartbeat noise in head and occasional weird noises in ears. Taking Gabapentin to control nighttime nerves. Other symptoms: anxiety attacks, goosebumps, fine motor coordination problems, sleep apnea, headaches/migraines, fatigue, unclear thinking. Update as of Jan. 2015 - almost all symptoms gone except for some tinnitus. Taking good care of myself except sometimes when I overdo it. |

Hi VanillaBean
What a great report to hear. Yay! I love it when people report progress and feeling grateful for their new life. 8 months is not a long time in brain healing. The brain takes the time it needs to heal -- because it does. Mine is still healing, or at least I still feel some improvements. Keep up the good attitude. Sincerely, poetrymom

[SIZE="1"]What happened. I was in a car accident 2-23-2013, and got a mild concussion from it. I had some time off for brain rest, got somewhat better, but slipped into PCS in March 2013. Symptoms I had: dizziness, light and sound sensitivity, fatigue, tinitis, occasional headaches and migraines, Symptoms as of 5--2013: poor sleep, tinitis, some confusion /short term memory blanks, balance. The other symptoms are mostly gone, but flare up if I OVERdo something. Therapy I had: vestibular 3 months in: I could drive more and for longer distances. I felt like a younger, happier version of myself and I feel so blessed to have this feeling. 9 months in and I am working full time. I do get tired, and some sound and light sensitivity from time to time, but mostly I am over most of my symptoms. I pray every day and I m praying for your recovery. Over a year in: I can multi task (limited) and have humor in my life. But when I am tired, I am very tired. |
