Hello all. I just had a few questions. For about a month and a half after I first started experiencing PCS symptoms, headaches were at the forefront of my complaints. However, they were much less noticeable for the past two months, but the past week they've been back in full force.
I went to my doctor last week to discuss other options for the frequent anxiety/panic attacks I've been experiencing because of PCS, and she switched me from xanax to propranolol and lorazepam. I also began taking Omega 3 and a vitamin B complex. Since I began taking this regimen, I've experienced the worsening headaches, as well as increased vertigo that was never there when I first began this journey. I know that propranolol can be used for migraines, so I doubt that's what's causing the headaches. Is it possible that the vitamins or lorazepam are the culprit? Or is it possible that I'm backsliding to the beginning of my symptoms? Sorry if this is hard to follow, I'm just confused as to why I seem to be getting worse instead of better. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm currently on an LOA from work, or as much of one as possible, (I still have to work a day or two a week) so I'm getting plenty of rest. I'm just not really sure where to go from here. |

How long were you on Xanax?
My personal experience with Xanax was downright hellish, I got addicted to it only after a couple of weeks and it was hell coming off of it, made my symptoms much much much worse.

12/02/2012 - Light concussion at boxing practice. Ended up having PCS for about 3 months. March 2013 - Thought that since most of my symptoms resolved I could start having fun again. Went snowmobiling once (didn't hit my head) and concussion symptoms returned and got even worse than before. June 2013 - accidentally bumped my head against a deck railing, and had a month-long setback. November 2013 - drove to work after a big snowstorm and the roads were very rough, ended up having another setback. 2014 - Having setbacks after coughing/sneezing too much, or someone slapping me on the back, or any other significant jarring. Feb 2014 - Started seeing Atlas Orthogonal chiro - most helpful doc so far. June 2014 - Two months of physical/visual therapy - no noticeable improvement. September 2014 - Diagnosed with Perilymph Fistula in right ear. November 2014 - Fistula surgery (switched to left ear before the surgery after additional testing). January 2016 - Quit work to "work" on figuring out PCS, so far it seems that eyes/vision issues are the most contributing factor, especially computer work. Current symptoms are: inconsistent sleep patterns, headaches, vertigo/dizziness, anxiety/panic attacks, mental fog/problems with concentration, problems with computer screens. |

Hi russiarulez,
I took it for about 2 1/2 months; I actually went to the doctor to ask about being taken off of it because I noticed I was becoming immune to its effects. I guess it would make sense if I'm experiencing withdrawal symptoms, though I was hoping to avoid that with taking lorazepam (and hopefully coming off benzos all together). It's just hard to differentiate when something is actually wrong and when it's the PCS! Thank you for your insight, I guess I will just have to prepare myself to deal with this junk for the time being. |

I take the same supplements and have been on a variety of drugs from the Xanax class. Never Xanax so I can't speak to that.
However, I have taken lorazapem, and found it helpful. However, it does slow down your nervous system. Is it possible that is making you feel vertigo? Because your reaction times are slowed, etc? I didn't have that problem, but I know when you take things in that class, it makes you feel slowed down and kinda funny when you move around. Hope you are feeling better!
