Default Pushy Chiropractor

I was very excited to see a chiropractor who specializes in concussions. On the day of the appointment, my vehicle broke down. I left a message cancelling my appointment and said I'd reschedule after my car was repaired. (I live in a semi-rural area with no public transportation)

I am extremely freaked out by how the chiropractor handled my cancellation. He was blowing up my phone (I didn't answer), leaving messages accusing me of "not being serious about getting better".

He even contacted me via Facebook and sent a message asking if I'm serious about my recovery.

It is not my fault that my vehicle broke down, and of course I want to get better. I don't like being made to feel like I don't value my health.

Would this creep anybody else out? Maybe I am just overreacting. It just scared me a lot, and now I don't even want to see a chiropractor anymore.

I don't even know how to handle this situation. When I cancel with other doctors, they just say "okay" and tell me to call when I'm ready.

MWS,

This chiro sounds out of line and possibly hungry for any business he can get.

Was he a referral from somebody who has had success with his treatments or just a yellow pages find ?

Find somebody else. I don't care if he's God's gift to his profession, I don't think you could ever have a good clinical relationship with this wacko.

In fact, maybe it was your good fortune that your car broke down.

Mark, I found him via a Google search for "Concussion Specialist" in my area. Hockey, I had a similar thought about my car breaking down.

Angry

In all honesty, when I look back on how bad off I was, and I think of all the people who were pushy with me during that time, I really think they took advantage of me. I'm not sure that they see it this way... I remember being "pushed" into purchasing a make-up thingie from a sales person... I don't wear make-up!! Other people yelled at me or scolded me for one thing or another and just thinking of it made me cry on and off for weeks at a time after the experience.

I was very suggestible and passive when I was really messed up in the head - it put me in a very vulnerable position. I think the LAST thing a head injury patient needs is someone who would manipulate them, coerce them, or yell at them in any way shape or form.

I still don't have the energy to fight so I defer arguments at work to my superiors (when someone doesn't like a policy I'm trying to uphold) or I completely avoid or stop contacting an acquaintance or family member if being around them is going to be stressful or in any way combative.

Even when I was normal I didn't like or appreciate this kind of behavior. But to act this way around someone who's cognitively impaired - how dare they?!?!?!

This guy should be ashamed of himself.

I think anyone who behaves this way should be avoided. Period.

Default See someone else

I myself can attest that stress and anxiety can give you more symptoms. This chiro seems more interested in the money rather than helping you. To get a scolding after you already lost your car and are suffering from a concussion is salt on the wound. Uncalled for actions

Default nut job

Wow, I never once have had a medical professional contact me via facebook and then chew me out for not being able to be at an appt.

Fire that doc and find another. So sorry you had to endure that.

Sincerely

[SIZE="1"]What happened. I was in a car accident 2-23-2013, and got a mild concussion from it. I had some time off for brain rest, got somewhat better, but slipped into PCS in March 2013.

Symptoms I had: dizziness, light and sound sensitivity, fatigue, tinitis, occasional headaches and migraines,

Symptoms as of 5--2013: poor sleep, tinitis, some confusion /short term memory blanks, balance. The other symptoms are mostly gone, but flare up if I OVERdo something.

Therapy I had: vestibular

3 months in: I could drive more and for longer distances. I felt like a younger, happier version of myself and I feel so blessed to have this feeling.

9 months in and I am working full time. I do get tired, and some sound and light sensitivity from time to time, but mostly I am over most of my symptoms.
I pray every day and I m praying for your recovery.

Over a year in: I can multi task (limited) and have humor in my life. But when I am tired, I am very tired.

Sounds extremely unprofessional and I would go to a different doctor. I don't think you are overreacting at all.

In fact, the best doctors were the ones who made it a point to say how much they appreciated how much it took to make it to doctors appointments when you were recovering!

Trust your instincts!
