The Start: MVA, t-boned, on 1-12-14 (my sons 5th birthday) and did not think anything of it.. my back hurt on site but everything else seemed ok. Lost about 10-12 hours from about 3 hours after the accident to the next day...Experienced terrible brain fog for over a month, plus intense headaches, nausea, dizziness, cognitive difficulties, disorientation, no short term memory, depression and just an overall hangover feeling daily. Current Situation: I'm about 7 months in and my local neurologist has waived her white flag and therefore I am headed to Dallas to be seen (I have family there). The headaches are still daily. I have nausea, dizziness as well. Drugs I have been on- Vicodin (off), Naproxen (off), proanolol (off), topamax (off), cataflam (off), Midrin (off), Flexeril (off) and now Namenda XR (off), Nortrptylin (off), Verapamil (off) Therapy- Osteopath, Vestibular and balance therapy, fuzion/soft tissue massage, acupuncture Drs- ER (no help), GP, Chiropractor, Neurologist and Osteopath |

One of the best ways to tell whether you have seizures or not are anticonvulsants.
If you take anticonvulsants and seizures stop this would indicate possible epilepsy. I haven't collapsed since November since I was prescibed Lyrica. Due an EEG on Friday so we shall see.

Symptoms mostly resolved, working full time and I am now mostly better. I wake 6am daily since my injury. Was experiencing daily Neuralgia which was controlled with Cymbalta 30mg, Lyrica 200mg daily. Now only on 30mg Cymbalta. |

I know this is in no way helpful but your doctor needs to be slapped!

Well I suppose I can that point of view. Im assuming its unheard of to give someone seizure meds with no official medical tests showing it. Right?

I take topamax which is an anticonvulsant and is used to treat epilepsy but I take it for my headaches. I don't have any issues with seizure activity and never have.
Its commonly used for migraines... many people here have been prescribed it at one time or another with various results. Just another angle... get your doc to treat your headache pain with topamax and see if your seizure activity goes away? Best of luck to you. Starr |

Starr is right,
I was prescribed Lyrica for Neuralgia first and foremost, but it's primary use is for epilepsy. Trial Topomax or Lyrica on headaches with your doctor.

Quick question. Wife has noted, and even I have noticed A LOT lately that im doing some crazy OCD like tendencies. For example, its very cloudy out right now, and very breezy and cool. I figured ok what the heck Ill go sit on the patio for a few minutes and stare at the clouds and enjoy the non humid cool breeze. While out there, I spent about a minute sitting up and down on the chair. Literally kept standing up and sitting down for a minute. Also, I kept having to rub the metal arm of the chair with my index fingers on both hands. Strange.
Wife has noted me making sure I rub my big toes on the grout in the tile floor in the kitchen, and sometimes even walking back into the kitchen if I miss. Or excessively washing my hands in the sink while zoning out in the mirror. Same with drinking a cup of water, ill fill it, take a few sips dump it, fill it take a few sips dump it and repeat. Not really sure whats up with this, not sure if they are a type of seizure, or if my brain is just being weird lately. |
