Has anyone had success with this supplement for anxiety/panic attacks? My doctor currently has me on propranolol/lorazepam (which I am tapering off of), but the severe rebound anxiety is driving me bonkers. I don't want to continue feeling like I need benzos to function, and was wondering if anyone's had success with L-Theanine. Is it safe to take after a TBI? Thank you.

Theanine is rather mild IMO.
But there is a good antianxiety supplement that works well: PharmaGaba Other forms of Gaba do not work well, but PharmaGaba does. I've used it myself. http://www.natural-pharmagaba.com/ Natural factors brand is pretty affordable and about 200mg a day should work for most people. iherb.com and Amazon also carry it. This is very close in action to the benzos, but does not have the habit forming potential like your lorazepam did.

I take L-Theanine and L-Tryptophan twice daily. It appears to help. I tried adding L-Tyrosine but it appears to make me jumpy. I've been taking the L-Theanine for about 2 months. I've been taking the L-Tryptophan for over a year.

Thank you, Mark. What dose of the L-theanine do you take?

I take it every day and sometimes I take it twice. I take it near that time of month when anxiety crops back into my life.
I also take Gabba, but not every day. For me, I have found that L-theanine to be a benefit and I take 200 mg in the dose. poetrymom

[SIZE="1"]What happened. I was in a car accident 2-23-2013, and got a mild concussion from it. I had some time off for brain rest, got somewhat better, but slipped into PCS in March 2013. Symptoms I had: dizziness, light and sound sensitivity, fatigue, tinitis, occasional headaches and migraines, Symptoms as of 5--2013: poor sleep, tinitis, some confusion /short term memory blanks, balance. The other symptoms are mostly gone, but flare up if I OVERdo something. Therapy I had: vestibular 3 months in: I could drive more and for longer distances. I felt like a younger, happier version of myself and I feel so blessed to have this feeling. 9 months in and I am working full time. I do get tired, and some sound and light sensitivity from time to time, but mostly I am over most of my symptoms. I pray every day and I m praying for your recovery. Over a year in: I can multi task (limited) and have humor in my life. But when I am tired, I am very tired. |
