The author presents a narrow view of the lack of motivation and such. He calls is psychological. That may be the case with some but for many, I believe the cause is of a psychiatric nature, meaning it is organic. Depression is a common symptom of PCS. Depression can rob a person of motivation and any sense of a future. The author alludes to depression when he considered suicide.

We all need to try to be very truthful with ourselves and seek professional help with depression, especially when times get tough. We need to have people we trust to reach out to. It can be a miserable existence without help.
