I have given up searching for a right doctor who will understand me. Maybe I can get some advice from the people on here who understand me. Any other advice will be appreciated Thanks
SSRI's are a touchy subject here... I personally like them... I have a need for them and use Lexapro. Yes, there are side effects, mostly sexual... however... the benefit of Lexapro and my lack of ups and downs and the fact that I do not need a xanax 2-3 times a day outweigh the risks...

As for the supplements... take them... they are not hurting anything.. if you feel that there is a positive reaction with them... continue!

As for a doctor... at times I get very frustrated with my neuro and the "time is the best prescription" line I keep getting fed... however last month she saw a change that was alarming to her... and she was on it like white on rice! She has become very aggressive to find out what happened and how we can fix it... so I look at it this way... Had I jumped ship and gone with another doctor, would he or she have noticed the change and been as aggressive? Just a thought...

The Start: MVA, t-boned, on 1-12-14 (my sons 5th birthday) and did not think anything of it.. my back hurt on site but everything else seemed ok. Lost about 10-12 hours from about 3 hours after the accident to the next day...Experienced terrible brain fog for over a month, plus intense headaches, nausea, dizziness, cognitive difficulties, disorientation, no short term memory, depression and just an overall hangover feeling daily.

Current Situation: I'm about 7 months in and my local neurologist has waived her white flag and therefore I am headed to Dallas to be seen (I have family there). The headaches are still daily. I have nausea, dizziness as well.

Drugs I have been on- Vicodin (off), Naproxen (off), proanolol (off), topamax (off), cataflam (off), Midrin (off), Flexeril (off) and now Namenda XR (off), Nortrptylin (off), Verapamil (off)

Therapy- Osteopath, Vestibular and balance therapy, fuzion/soft tissue massage, acupuncture

Drs- ER (no help), GP, Chiropractor, Neurologist and Osteopath

I suggest you continue with the vitamins and supplements. Many doctors have a bias against any vitamins or supplements. Just try to ignore their comments. My doctor fully supports my use of vitamins and supplements while taking an anti-depressant.

The nortriptyline is faster acting than an SSRI. It may give you quicker relief with less side-effects. It is also easier to discontinue.
