Get a doctor who does not have a hidden agenda. Doctors who work for insurance/worksafe, etc will minimize your injury, because it is in their interest to do so. if this was a work place injury, get a lawyer if you can.
I am so sorry and my thoughts go out to you. I am in the same boat. I want to get back to work so bad (I love working; bit of a workaholic). insurance company thinks I am faking symptoms to be off work. they determined that I should have been healed months ago. It makes me sad to see how our society is structured, but nothing I can do right now. |

Kevbo, I saw a speech therapist about 5 months after my injury who said I was a "classic head injury patient". No one had ever acknowledged my cognitive deficits before seeing her, even 2 neurologists. The second one actually thought I had no need for speech therapy and would not give me a referral ( had to get one through my primary care M.D. who was very hesitant). During that time I also spoke to a lawyer to help with the personal injury lawsuit who told me the speech therapist's observation wasn't enough to establish a case, because she was not an M.D. I was later referred for Neuropsychology testing by my orthopedic M.D., and that is what showed I had many cognitive deficits. Because of this testing, I was also able to get on SS disability. Mark in Idaho is absolutely correct; get a Neuropsychology test. M-i-m |

This is not true. There are plenty of doctors who understand that an mTBI rarely shows up on imaging. The problem is there is not much the doctors can do to validate the patient's complaints.

Hmmm... They may know it, but it's a rare one who will admit it. Unless you've navigated the system as an mTBI patient, it's hard to imagine how terribly we're treated. Really, before it happened to me, I wouldn't have believed how much the car insurance industry has been able to corrupt the medical and political establishments.
