on top of my concussion I suffered an acquired brain injury from drug interaction 7 years ago I was in bed for years and in at a psych ward for anxiety and depression and pain. I'm wondering if that acquired brain injury did much more than a concussion because I feel like I am losing my mind and have been home bound for years. I just don't know what's going on and I am afraid I will end up in an institution for good.

I don't think anybody can give you a definitive answer to your question. I think it is likely you suffered more damage from the drug interaction but there is no way to determine for sure. The important thing is for you to develop the discipline needed to manage your symptoms, with properly prescribed meds and good personal behaviors.
If you have a noticeable case of encephalopathy, an MRI or CT Scan would show a shrinking of the brain.
