Mokey! You are inspiring me to keep going. I can't do a Fall return, so maybe Spring. (yes, they may fire me in the meantime, but I'm doing my therapies and my work in the meantime).

Yes, keep hope alive. Then we can keep on pushing ourselves, one step at a time.

We may not return to who we once were, but who we will be, no one can say.

That's the hope we have to fight for, one step at a time.

Hockey, you are such an inspiration. You have given us hope, guidance and compassion that can only come from deep suffering you have endured and continue to persevere. What you have already accomplished is more than some might dream of achieving in a life time (in terms of overcoming obstacles and working towards a goal). I find life's true beauty in one's ability to hope, and to love life despite all that happened.

Still, I would LOVE to be able to work, again.

I have resigned myself to the fact that I will never be able to return to my demanding, high octane career. However, I've reached the point where I would be happy to be able to do ANYTHING that gave me the validation of a pay cheque.

I'm not there, yet, and maybe I never will be (so say my doctors and PT), but I'm not going to give up.

No matter how hard I work at my recovery, there is no guarantee I'll succeed. All I can know is, that if I stop trying, I'm guaranteed to fail.

I hope you can keep your hope alive.
I think this experience has taught many of us the true meaning of success. It is not about doing what you love, the title of your job or how good at your job you are. It is about doing your best despite knowing you are not going to win. It is your persevering, hoping, and loving.

I know that who we are becoming is even better than who we ever were. If you ever have a doubt, redefine your success.

Many of us are parents, and I think we keep going, not only to care for our child's immediate needs, but to send the important messages: never give up on yourself and ALL people are valuable.

Thanks for this. There are times when I am sure that my children are so confused by the different "me"s that they wake up to:

the tired me, the cranky me, the confused me, the forgetful me, the more happy me, the sleepy me, the blank me, the me that is really struggling.

But there is the me that is really hopeful and really working hard. That's the one I want them to see.

I read in Oprah magazine (I know) about the WMBA player who's mom told her that she didn't have to be the best, just her best. And I think that's the message I want for me and my kids- to be our best. And that's where hope factors in-to do our best.

read a good quote
"The difference between a success and a failure is choosing to get up one more time in whichever way you can".
