Mokey! You are inspiring me to keep going. I can't do a Fall return, so maybe Spring. (yes, they may fire me in the meantime, but I'm doing my therapies and my work in the meantime).
Yes, keep hope alive. Then we can keep on pushing ourselves, one step at a time. We may not return to who we once were, but who we will be, no one can say. That's the hope we have to fight for, one step at a time.

Hockey, you are such an inspiration. You have given us hope, guidance and compassion that can only come from deep suffering you have endured and continue to persevere. What you have already accomplished is more than some might dream of achieving in a life time (in terms of overcoming obstacles and working towards a goal). I find life's true beauty in one's ability to hope, and to love life despite all that happened.

Many of us are parents, and I think we keep going, not only to care for our child's immediate needs, but to send the important messages: never give up on yourself and ALL people are valuable.

Thanks for this. There are times when I am sure that my children are so confused by the different "me"s that they wake up to:
the tired me, the cranky me, the confused me, the forgetful me, the more happy me, the sleepy me, the blank me, the me that is really struggling. But there is the me that is really hopeful and really working hard. That's the one I want them to see. I read in Oprah magazine (I know) about the WMBA player who's mom told her that she didn't have to be the best, just her best. And I think that's the message I want for me and my kids- to be our best. And that's where hope factors in-to do our best.
