Default Mornings are worse

While my brain is fresher after sleeping, my mood is the pits in the morning. perhaps b/c i awoke from blissful ignorance to face my life as it is right now....lonely, painful, limited...and did i mention lonely?

by noon the mood starts too lift and by evening its good again. glad i noticed this trend so i can take myself less seriously in the morning knowing i'll likely feel better later.

Know what you mean, I tend to feel better after lunch. Being aware of it makes all the difference. Maybe I need a better breakfast!

underwater,

Try a glass of juice as soon as you get up. You may be experiencing low blood sugar and need a pick me up. My son used to wake up grumpy until we started giving him a glass of orange juice as he woke up. Within a few minutes, he was in a much better mood.

It is good to establish a morning routine to do as soon as you get up. Routines tend to help with mood issues.

My best to you

thanks Mark. I do have juice right away, but i water it down then sometimes don't eat for a while...so i'll increase that. and you're right. i think i flounder for a while trying to decide how to spend my day...what version of nothing to do when...and that gets me down. i've been meaning to be more disciplined about yoga/meditation. no reason not to do that first thing. sometimes i want to get out and walk before it gets hot, but then i sit around and mope after that. haha! anyway, i'll try your suggestions.

A single glass of juice with no follow up morning meal is not good. Have the juice and while it is kicking in make a breakfast. I have the same thing for breakfast almost every day. Cheerios with chopped canned peaches or fresh fruit. If I am feeling poor, I might substitute a cup of fruit yoghurt. I look for at least 170 to 200 calories, just to start.

Hypoglycemia is a horrendous mood killer. The brain survives on glucose.

Why do you water down your juice ?

what version of nothing to do lol. That cracked me upI spent a good part of my day arguing politics with kids that are 30 years younger than me and call me names on the CNN board lol. I will never tell my political beliefs on this board as I like all my friends but I find it fun to kill the hours.

I spent too much time in Latin America...they like it watered down and with sugar. i don't add sugar. I'll just have several glasses of watered down juice, rather than one. had my blood sugar tested recently and it was just fine, but per the thread on hunger-related stuff, i think my brain is far less tolerant of slight dips in blood sugar.

i misplaced my almond butter...seriously. gonna be sick when that turns up. but was having that on whole grain toast right away. gotta get back into that.

You might be surprised at what happens to your blood sugar during a glucose tolerance test. Blood sugar can cycle wildly for some. Others have fasting hypoglycemia. Some are more sensitive to low levels than others.

I have dealt with reactive hypoglycemia for over 30 years. Mine levels act like a roller coaster unless I properly moderate them.

Finding what works can be a life time effort.

I wonder if the ascetic acid burning feeling in my arms and spine when I wake up have anything to do with sugar issue. My diabetes test are always the same. Not diabetic or pre diabetic but hi.and besides wanting to get rid of the pain what's the gabapentin has helped I am just of a curious nature and I like to know how things work in the body
