I have a TBI and I feel like the only one who has this injury. My TBI is very minor and it does not effect my physically very much. My TBI effects me mentally. I have memory problems, emotional problems and i am very impulsive now. I tried to go to a TBI survivor support group but, I only went once. I only went once because the other people in the group were a lot older than I was and a lot more effected by their TBI than I was.
I am hoping to meet other high functioning people who also have a TBI. I am unable to live on my own because of my memory. Because of this I live in a state ran home for adults with disabilities. The part of my brain that was injured when I obtained my TBI causes me to act the age I was when I got the injury. Please send me a message if you can relate at all. |

Welcome! TBI is not minor and your deficits sound similar to mine, you are not alone. In my experience, most physicians I've talked to have no understanding of our ailments or the causes and treatments available. If you can, I recommend that you learn as much as possible. This is a great site and it is loaded with information and very knowledgeable people.

The Start: MVA, t-boned, on 1-12-14 (my sons 5th birthday) and did not think anything of it.. my back hurt on site but everything else seemed ok. Lost about 10-12 hours from about 3 hours after the accident to the next day...Experienced terrible brain fog for over a month, plus intense headaches, nausea, dizziness, cognitive difficulties, disorientation, no short term memory, depression and just an overall hangover feeling daily. Current Situation: I'm about 7 months in and my local neurologist has waived her white flag and therefore I am headed to Dallas to be seen (I have family there). The headaches are still daily. I have nausea, dizziness as well. Drugs I have been on- Vicodin (off), Naproxen (off), proanolol (off), topamax (off), cataflam (off), Midrin (off), Flexeril (off) and now Namenda XR (off), Nortrptylin (off), Verapamil (off) Therapy- Osteopath, Vestibular and balance therapy, fuzion/soft tissue massage, acupuncture Drs- ER (no help), GP, Chiropractor, Neurologist and Osteopath |
