Default Acupuncture

Has anyone tried this???

Yesterday was a super long day... Started with my neurologist appointment at 8:30 where the front office staff had no idea I was there for over an hour even though I had followed their instructions and signed in and sat down... went ok however, she has me out of work for another month... she told me to go swim... anyone tried this? make you dizzy?

Next was a Chiropractic apt... followed by functional massage on my neck and traps... this has been helping a lot, breaking up scar tissue and getting the tension out of my neck..

Then acupuncture... this was ok, I was not sure what to expect... I got VERY dizzy though... is this normal???

Then off to my son (5) pre-k "graduation" ceremony... yes, crazy, I know... however, is what it is...

Not home until 8:30 last night... needless to say I am TIRED today... I think i will be sleeping a lot today!

The Start: MVA, t-boned, on 1-12-14 (my sons 5th birthday) and did not think anything of it.. my back hurt on site but everything else seemed ok. Lost about 10-12 hours from about 3 hours after the accident to the next day...Experienced terrible brain fog for over a month, plus intense headaches, nausea, dizziness, cognitive difficulties, disorientation, no short term memory, depression and just an overall hangover feeling daily.

Current Situation: I'm about 7 months in and my local neurologist has waived her white flag and therefore I am headed to Dallas to be seen (I have family there). The headaches are still daily. I have nausea, dizziness as well.

Drugs I have been on- Vicodin (off), Naproxen (off), proanolol (off), topamax (off), cataflam (off), Midrin (off), Flexeril (off) and now Namenda XR (off), Nortrptylin (off), Verapamil (off)

Therapy- Osteopath, Vestibular and balance therapy, fuzion/soft tissue massage, acupuncture

Drs- ER (no help), GP, Chiropractor, Neurologist and Osteopath

I tried swimming, fairly early in my recovery. While I found floating in the water relaxing, I had to wear a collar to support my neck and I couldn't handle the echo noise at the public pool.

Default acupunture!

This did help me and don't know why. Maybe I learned to deeply relax. the lady I went to used the community works model which means she didn't bill insurance and that kept costs down.

If it doesn't make you feel relaxed or better -- maybe it's not for you.

Hang in there and find what works to help you let go of stress.

Sincerely,

poetrymom

[SIZE="1"]What happened. I was in a car accident 2-23-2013, and got a mild concussion from it. I had some time off for brain rest, got somewhat better, but slipped into PCS in March 2013.

Symptoms I had: dizziness, light and sound sensitivity, fatigue, tinitis, occasional headaches and migraines,

Symptoms as of 5--2013: poor sleep, tinitis, some confusion /short term memory blanks, balance. The other symptoms are mostly gone, but flare up if I OVERdo something.

Therapy I had: vestibular

3 months in: I could drive more and for longer distances. I felt like a younger, happier version of myself and I feel so blessed to have this feeling.

9 months in and I am working full time. I do get tired, and some sound and light sensitivity from time to time, but mostly I am over most of my symptoms.
I pray every day and I m praying for your recovery.

Over a year in: I can multi task (limited) and have humor in my life. But when I am tired, I am very tired.

Hello,
There are manly types of acupuncture. We would not have tried it, but the Integrative Clinic up at Stanford has a acupuncturist. My daughter constantly had headaches and acupuncture would relieve the head pressure immediately.

Reading what you were able to do in a day, I would say that you can do more in a day than she could have done.

As for the pool, a water exercise class was okay. She has vestibular issues so swimming wasn't great for her.

My best,

Hi,

I'm having acupuncture right now after the last round of PT made my neck and shoulder flare up.

It's called dry needling, some call it acupuncture, others don't, the first three times no difference, only headaches and pain but this last visit has made some difference.

I have to lie on my stomach and when I stand up I'm dizzy for a while.

Community Acupuncture helped me be able to walk, talk again! I love the mental help it did as well. I had to stop going cause it is a 45min drive and I had a change in meds that now It hurts me to drive 30min. I love it though and really helped me in recovery. I highly encourage community acupuncture

I received home visits from an acupuncturist for about 6 months, twice a week during months 5-11 of my recovery.

It did wonders for me!

From what I've read, it supposedly increases the body's natural endorphins or something like that...

It helped reduce the sever physical pain I was in. It worked better than the narcotics I was prescribed and it didn't make me tired or more fuzzy-headed the way that the drugs did.

My Dr. said I needed to be careful with alternative treatments, but she was glad it worked for me. She told me that it works for some people, but not most.

I know this is an old post but I have just started receiving acupuncture and it hasn't helped at all like they said it would. I feel so much worse. It was 1.5 weeks ago and I feel like a mess. So dizzy and nauseous, headaches almost every day, pressure feeling, really emotional, anxiety and just difficulty functioning, oh and extremely tired.

Are you still doing it? Is it helping?

Default Hi, about acupuncture

Yes I have been doing this for about 6 months. lately more often. I must and do believe there is benefit. I am having several other types of therapy so I am not sure which does the most good. ginnie
