I get some relief from the chronic irritation feeling in head and spine from tylenol or advil, but it does not last long. Hesitant to go back on oxy. I know it is a strange question, but never hurts to ask.
Is there anything between tylenol/advil and oxycodone? I already take large dose of gabapentin. and cymbalta. |

Combine Tylenol and aspirin, about 1000 mgs each. My doctor told me to do this. I use it for my bad head aches.

I'd try an ice pack once a day.
Tramadol is an option, and typically given for nerve pain. It has just gone on control status CIV and some people get habituated on it, but not as much as Benzos or opiates. Magnesium lotion as I suggested to you before is an amazing thing. You should be using it daily. Morton Epsom Lotion... at WalMart, Walgreen's and online at Amazon.com A little goes a long way when applied to the neck. You might not need ANY pain meds using Morton's. It is a miracle thing really.

Indomethacin, naproxin, midrin, I have been on all... I would say Indomethacin is one of the better ones...

The Start: MVA, t-boned, on 1-12-14 (my sons 5th birthday) and did not think anything of it.. my back hurt on site but everything else seemed ok. Lost about 10-12 hours from about 3 hours after the accident to the next day...Experienced terrible brain fog for over a month, plus intense headaches, nausea, dizziness, cognitive difficulties, disorientation, no short term memory, depression and just an overall hangover feeling daily. Current Situation: I'm about 7 months in and my local neurologist has waived her white flag and therefore I am headed to Dallas to be seen (I have family there). The headaches are still daily. I have nausea, dizziness as well. Drugs I have been on- Vicodin (off), Naproxen (off), proanolol (off), topamax (off), cataflam (off), Midrin (off), Flexeril (off) and now Namenda XR (off), Nortrptylin (off), Verapamil (off) Therapy- Osteopath, Vestibular and balance therapy, fuzion/soft tissue massage, acupuncture Drs- ER (no help), GP, Chiropractor, Neurologist and Osteopath |

April 11, 2014 Flipped in class 2 white water while kayaking, hit my forehead (was wearing a helmet). Lots of symptoms to begin with. Those remaining are fatigue, brain freezes/overstimulation, headaches, sensitivity to light and sound. Insomnia is getting better but still an issue, and appetite is ba-ack! Depression and anxiety are largely under control thanks to Lexapro, exercise, and a very distant light at the end of the tunnel. Drugs: Lexapro, occasional 2-5mgs ambien. Off amatryptaline. Thank you everyone. The pain is worst in upper cervical spine and where spine meets brain stem. it is constant. will lotion work for a pain that deep?
thanks for the other suggestions. I will get some aspirin today and see if that combo works. i guess it will be process of elimination went back on cymbalta from zoloft because the pain was noticably worse without cymbalta. Anybody ever hear of or use savella? |

I wouldn't use aspirin without your doctor's
Permission, Markneil. You have Gerd And take SSRI drugs which can cause bleeding. You also already take ibuprofen. That mix can set you up for a major GI Bleed. And yes the magnesium works very well On the neck. The mag is absorbed from the Lotion and blocks NMDA pain receptors in The nerves there. Also relaxes tendon And muscle tension. Stay away from that aspirin!

I take enteric aspirin. It does not dissolve until it is past the stomach. It takes longer to act because of this but it does not disturb the stomach. I have take 975 mgs daily for 20 years for arthritis in my hands. I tried indomethacin. It made me very confused. I could get lost in a closet.

Some NSAIDs are very lipophic and enter into the brain...
Indomethacin is one. Ketoralac is another. Indomethacin is well know for causing silent bleeds...it can be very dangerous to take on a regular basis. That aspirin may be enteric coated, but the major activity of all NSAIDs is systemic. Aspirin and the others will affect clotting and cause bleeding in the brain and anywhere else. http://www.webmd.com/heart-disease/n...rin-worth-risk SSRIs increase bleeding risks. MarkNeil is high risk due to his GI problems, Proton pump inhibitor, etc. So while aspirin is helpful sometimes, it can really cause terrible events--even hemorrhages!
