I have ordered turmeric suppliments for myself and expect it to be delivered in a week. I have a few questions
1) I took cod liver oil 300mg capsule once a day for about a month until my GP told me to stop because he felt I dont need them anymore. But I bought one more bottle of it and will continue to take them for some time until I feel better. Can I take more than one capsule in a day ? Each capsule has 300mg cod liver oil. 2) I have never taken turmeric capsules before and dont have any idea whether they are easy to digest and what the side effects are if any. Can anybody tell me if I should consume a little more oil as I have read that it helps in the absorption of curcumin or any other dietary changes ? 3) Please see the attached picture and tell me if the contents look good and sufficient of the turmeric suppliment Thanks for reading |

I read that curcumin can thin the blood as can cod liver oil so I would be wary of over doing it.
I used to take cod liver oil but discovered it's extremely high is vitamin A so now I take fish oil capsules instead.

If you are going to take a raw herb like turmeric, take it with a fatty meal.
The curcumin is not well absorbed unless aided by something. Since there is no bioperine in your supplement, your only recourse is to take it with a meal containing some kind of oil or fat. Cod liver oil is not a safe way to get Omega-3's. It contains Vit A retinol which over time may be toxic. The type of Vit A in vegetables is Betacarotene by comparison and less dangerous. It is best to get Omega-3 supplements from fish in your diet, flax oil in the diet, or krill oil supplements, or fish oil. It is best to get your Vit D from a separate supplement so you can alter the dose as your body requires. Excess Vit A from cod liver oil use, can lead to increased intracranial hypertension and/or liver toxicity. It is difficult to know if you are getting toxic on your own, so it is best to avoid it all together. Fish oils are made from the body of the fish, where Vit A and D do not concentrate. Cod LIVER oil comes from the livers of fish and contain concentrated retinol (Vit A) and Vit D. There are some Omega-3s in there too, but not as high a level as you need for supplemental use.

Label sounds good. I would take two a day. Mine are a little stronger than yours, and I have no side effects. Black pepper is a good thing to take to help absorb. Just put it on a little food when you take your caps. I also think the CLO will be good for you.

Hello!
I have been taking tumeric with curcumin for more than a year now and plan to take it for a long time. Vitamins and supplemements are a lifestyle for me and were before my brain injury. I really feel tumeric helps and will for me in my middle to later age. I am now 50, and took fish oil since my 20s. But tumeric with curcumin is said to be good for the brain. I have no hard evidence to give you. I just have me, so much better from post -concussion syndrome, and I wish you all the best. Take care poetrymom

[SIZE="1"]What happened. I was in a car accident 2-23-2013, and got a mild concussion from it. I had some time off for brain rest, got somewhat better, but slipped into PCS in March 2013. Symptoms I had: dizziness, light and sound sensitivity, fatigue, tinitis, occasional headaches and migraines, Symptoms as of 5--2013: poor sleep, tinitis, some confusion /short term memory blanks, balance. The other symptoms are mostly gone, but flare up if I OVERdo something. Therapy I had: vestibular 3 months in: I could drive more and for longer distances. I felt like a younger, happier version of myself and I feel so blessed to have this feeling. 9 months in and I am working full time. I do get tired, and some sound and light sensitivity from time to time, but mostly I am over most of my symptoms. I pray every day and I m praying for your recovery. Over a year in: I can multi task (limited) and have humor in my life. But when I am tired, I am very tired. |
