I can get some two-hour HBOT sessions (2 bar, pure oxygen) in Slovakia (a 2-hour train ride from here) at EUR 70 a piece ($87). I wonder—how will this compare to 1hr sessions at 1.5 bar (mentioned in the studies I found)? Will 10 such sessions compare approximately to 20 one-hour sessions at 1.5 bar? Is the higher pressure beneficial for PCS or detrimental?
Has anyone given these a try? Am I likely to feel any improvement after 10 such sessions? (I can buy no less than 10 at a time so I thought I could buy ten in two weeks and then possibly repeat it if I see any improvement). |

Research show that the improvements in blood flow take 40 to 80 sessions. I think it is the amount of cumulative time spent in the chambers that matters, not the pressure and oxygen level. The rest time between sessions is likely important.
There is no strong evidence that the HBOT sessions affect PCS recovery. The studies have often focused on observing improved capillary growth. Anecdotal reports are often used to promote HBOT. The Boussi-Gross et al. study left a lot of questions. This study showed no benefit. http://journals.lww.com/headtraumare...sistent.2.aspx Just be careful with the finances and expectations. One could spend a small fortune for a small benefit.
