Default Physical odd symptoms

Hi guys and gals, just curious of anyone experiences any physical abnormalities after their TBI and what they are.

For example- when overstimulated my hearing gets muffled and my vision gets worse along with throbbing pain in my face and I then have trouble actually breathing through my nostril on that side of the face. The pain in the face and blocked breathing then lasts for hours until my brain quiets down again and even then I still will experience pain while totally clear minded with no stim. My voice also gets quieter and I am like what is going on here body!

I can't seem to control it. Nor can I ascertain when it will happen again or exactly what triggers it and I'm curious if anyone else has some strange 'oddities'.

Thanks!

Try taking your blood pressure and pulse when this happens. It might shed some light on this cluster of symptoms.

Thanks Mark- I have and nothing of significance changes in my BP or pulse. I'll keep an eye on it and see.

As you were in a cycling accident, it might also be worth investigating if any of these are neurological symptoms related to neck injury.

I have a bevy of weird symptoms. Some are TBI, others are the product of spinal instability from wicked whiplash.

Dots,

My nostrils close up and voice quiets also. Typically stuttering increases and a little less clear thinking.

Usually it is around for a few hours and as quick and unexpected as it appears, so it disappears. I can literally feel the nostrils open and my muscles in my upper back melt in relaxation as if nothing ever happened.

I don't have any facial pain... Mine is stiffness on the side I was hit.

I have not noticed a raised bp or heart rate either.

I see the neuro tomorrow for the first time in 4.5 months since the 4.5 month mark and I will be asking him about it.

Bud

Thanks Guys. And Hockey I'm actually seeing a PT next week to look into the neck. My OrthoPT noticed of I stand on my left side my whole body wobble and they this there could be some neck instability. It could also be the reason for the headaches (oh fingers crossed).

Have you had much help with seeing someone for whiplash?

And Bud- that's exactly it- except just one side. It's noticeable to others as suddenly I sound congested and my voice quiets. I ask the neuro and he has no clue. I've found that TBI's and pcs are complete and total puzzles to the med world.

I'm heading to and ENT next week for a full eval- maybe there's something there maybe it's a mystery. Nonetheless it is sucky!!!

Bud- any triggers?

Dots,

I had a neuro appt yesterday...first time in 4.5 months. He told me he did not think I would go through such a rough time and he actually believed me.

Going to try some neck pt.

My work,is 22 miles from my house, I started back 2 days a week for 3 hours. I have a recovery time from the ride home. I believe it is a combo of the ride and the noise so I started wearing earplugs, my wife drives. Fortunately we work together.

Other triggers can be to much happening around me to keep up with. Conversation wears me down after 20 minutes or so, computer screens almost immediately set me off and tv can but takes longer. If I wear earplugs I can make it through a whole football game on tv! Not everyday but there are times when my glasses can really mess things up, when I take them off it settles down. The last major would be not resting in time...I fail to lay down when I should at times.

Take Care,
Bud

Hockey and Bud -
Looking forward to hearing about neck PT work and if it settles some symptoms!

I also use the earbuds...awesome! And have trouble with sunglasses- I think it's the curvature of the glass itself that bothers me but I'm not sure.

Glad to hear you guys have also had some strange things. I really feel like there has got to be answers to the oddities... It's just uncovering piece by piece to find out what the causes are. What a process!

Sometimes I just break down and say 'I want me back'! Then just take the symptoms as they come for what they are and put my chin up and go through another day=} It'll get better for all of us! I have to believe=}

Keep up and let me know your (Ugggh word finding moment) results from Neck PT!

Cheers!

Bud-It seems like the wall I keep running Into to is because I liked the old me and want that back, I don't know if this is like you but you may relate. Not that I went from a Mac to a PC (hehe), but I definitely know my computer has been rearranged and is processing things... Say a bit differently or even slowly.

But, as my awesome husband told me recently is that I'm suffering and worrying that I'm not the 'old me' and that is what is holding me back. Yet here I can use this time to try and become whatever me I want to be! Why not. Pain and all- what the future lies ahead can be because I'm choosing it and taking care of me and not just allowing my PCS to define me.

I think I'm going to make a list of all the things I've ever wanted to be and start working towards that. It may be a bootstrap lifting solution. =} I want you to try it too! At least it will take my mind off all my symptoms=}

Though those odd symptoms are still there! Oh man what a journey this is.
