Default SSDI and further employment

what are the laws regarding discrimination in hiring people with disabilities? specifically if one applies for SSDI and then recovers in 2-3 years, for example, will future employers know about the disability or can they find out somehow if not disclosed by the employee?

how does this affect eligibility for group disability insurance provided by employers?

what are some of the other things to be careful of with respect to applying for SSDI?

I don't think returning to work after getting SSDI should be a big deal. The Social Security Administration would likely have your back to get to work if possible. Group disability policies do not usually have a lot of focus on individual employees. that is why they are group plans. The insurance company plays the larger group odds.

Your 100% disability record should be private unless asked about in a job application. I doubt it would be legal to ask. A gap in work history may raise a flag that would need to be carefully addressed. They can not ask about ADA disabilities by law. If they hire you, they must provide reasonable accommodations.

Hi
You might want to also ask about this on our SSDI forum as there are some members there with a lot of knowledge in this area
