I took amitryptaline for 1 year and it worked pretty well for my headaches. I remember the first 2 weeks being tough and weaning off it tough. My headaches began to be a problem again when I had a son as I started not sleeping. Some days getting 3-4 hr.
I started hydrocodone and it helped me function tremendously. I take 1-2 a day and I'm a much happier person. I don't think this is long term solution. Do I A. Wait to see if headaches improve once my son starts sleeping through the night. B. Get back on amitryptaline C Topamax. Any thoughts on this drug from users of this or both? How does it compare to amitrypt |

I ended up switching from amitriptyline to Topamax, and Topamax worked greaet for me. Others have had different results. I was not able to get a high enough dose of amitriptyline to overcome the headaches without having negative side effects, but Topamax worked for me at a fairly low dose. If you are having daily headaches, I would definitely talk to your doctor about going on some type of headache preventive medication rather than trying to manage via painkillers.

I am on low doses of both Topamax and amitrypltaline. The Tomamax helps with headaches and the amitrypltaline helps with the sleeping. I have almost side affects because of the low doses.
I take them both an hour before bedtime. |

Would you care to describe how your headaches feel? Is the pain a dull ache or a sharp pain or perhaps even a numbness?

My headaches (which might not even really be headaches) are more of a dull soreness/stiffness around the left eye that wraps around the left side of the head. When I experience this issue my nystagmus and dizziness becomes worse. I'm just wondering if anyone has had any success managing a similar issue?

My headaches were dull and lasted 24 hours a day,. They would be less in the morning and increase throughout the day.
I would say that back then headaches didn't make my 10 top of issues. It was nice when the Topamax stopped them. |
