Default PCS social groups?

A couple of us here in Canberra (Australia) have been talking about starting a PCS social group (as opposed to a 'support group'). Certainly PCS-specific issues could be discussed, with inevitable information-sharing, but the primary purpose would be social -- being able to get together with a group of people to whom you didn't have to explain yourself.

It would be helpful to know if anyone has experience of such a group and, if so, whether it was set up through the MeetUp system or in another way, how it was publicised, and how it has turned out.

Thank you!
