I am currently taking zyprexa, temesta and trazodone for sleeping. It works pretty good, because my anxiety(=reason for my sleeping issues) has reduced and I can sleep better now.
The thing is, I dont know how healthy this cocktail is for the brain. Are their any alternatives? |

The alternative is learning how to control your anxious thoughts. Zyprexa is usually for short term use to get past a crisis. Lemesta is a benzo and should also not be used long term.
Learn to occupy your mind with non-anxiety producing thoughts. I watch some TV to put my mind into a passive thinking mode. I'm just thinking about the information presented on the program that does not effect me. I've used music videos. audio CD's, etc. And, don't go to bed until your mind is ready to go to bed. You may need to start your process of getting ready to go to bed hours before. Bodily systems need time to settle down. |

My doctor told me that zyprexa is not addictive. Why is it a short term solution?
I am at a point where I get no sleep without meds. Tried almost everything. |

Zyprexa is used to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. It acts quicker than other anti-psychotic drugs so it is used as a short term bridge to other meds that take longer.
What is your evening/sleep routine like, starting at 5:00 or so ? |

I have seen Zyprexa used off label for symptoms of OCD/Anxiety.
I'm not sure about the combination of the Olanzapine/Zyprexa and the Lorazepam/Temesta though. For someone who's been talking about having problems with pulse rate and blood pressure, it's something that needs checking. Drug/drug interaction sites show Major Interaction between these two medications. http://www.drugs.com/drug_interactions.html |

Lara, I just follow the advice of my doctor. She decided to give me those pills. Yesterday she said that we stop with temesta and trazodon and continue with 10 mg zyprexa. My bp and pulse are checked daily. The pulse is still a bit too high. My sleep has improved but I wake up way too often, I feel like that the sleep has no quality like this. Is their any reason why zyprexa should be not taken for a longer period?
