I am a 63 yr old female truck driver...on august 28th I had a fairly mild motorcycle wreck....most things are fairly well healed up..EXCEPT I still get dizzy at times...yes I hit my head when I went down...all they told when when I was released from the hospital was...it takes a little time to get over this..i am getting my memory back(it was never completely gone)I don't get sick at my stomach,or have the continuous headaches either...I just get dizzy...oh...even THAT is no where as bad as it was...any help? I can't go back to driving till the dizziness is gone.
the dizziness is worst when I lie down or lean my head back. OH!! my sister said to try the EPLEY MANUVER...but after 4 days it just seems to make things worse. any help will be greatly appreciated |

DianeB,
Welcome to NeuroTalk. The first thing you should do is get a vestibular assessment. An ENT can arrange this or a Hearing and Balance Center can also help. You may need to be treated for a subtle upper neck injury. They usually do not show up on a CT Scan or x-ray. These can contribute to dizziness. Read the sticky at the top about Vitamins. It lists ways to get help with Upper Cervical injuries towards the bottom of the first post.. |

I'd swap out the Super Stress B Complex. It is hardly worth taking. Get a B-50 Complex and add 1000 to 2500 mcgs of methylcobalamin B-12. The 125 mcgs of cyanocobalamin B-12 is lacking.
Add D-3. A D-3 with mag citrate or Mag maleate is worthwhile. Make sure your magnesium is not mag oxide. That is a laxative with little absorption value. A mag citrate/calcium citrate combo is good. The Alive Multi is OK if you take the three tablets a day as labeled. Wow, it's expensive. |

I'd try upper cervical treatment and /or some gentle & expert chiro that uses multiple modalities of treatment.. like some mix of ultrasound , IF stim, low level laser, and some trigger point/NIMMO or massage combination for the soft tissue injuries.

I am SOOOOOO glad I tripped and fell into this site....I had NO idea what was WRONG!! I kept feeling so strange(I've never had a head injury b4) at first when I got home I was so disoriented,no idea what was going on,lights hurt my eyes, sounds ,headaches, all kinds of things...then as my knee, leg, and shoulder healed I just KEPT being foggy and dizzy....the head wound healed over but STILL felt "off" dr's were like...it will just take a little time....I am getting better and am feeling VERY lucky amd blessed that it wasn't MUCH worse...all that's left now is the slight ocaional dizziness...if I can just shake that now I can get back to work...again THANK Y'ALL |

Hello and welcome to Neurotalk.
Epley manoeuvre can be used for Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo - BPPV. http://www.racgp.org.au/afp/2013/jan...ley-manoeuvre/ Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) I'll leave a PDF regarding vestibular disorders that might help in figuring out whether that is what you're experiencing or not. There is also a difference between feeling dizzy and having vertigo. Causes of Dizziness - pdf Includes definitions of dizziness, vertigo and disequilibrium, and spatial disorientation. https://vestibular.org/about_balance The blue paragraph headers on the paragraphs on this page contain more info if you click them. How Do I know I have a Balance Disorder- pdf from Vestibular.org |

A quick PS about Epley and the Dix-Hallpike test
As that first link I posted states I wouldn't have those done unless neck injury was ruled out first (and some other things). It's in the "Considerations" section of 1st link posted. |
