Default Blue light or not blue light?

Seriously I am very confused about this. Some people say how blue light works good for them (therapy, blue tainted glasses,...) at the same time I see people and doctors telling me that blocking the blue light could be good.

Am I missing something or are things indeed that confusing? For example, you see an article like this (not about concussion):

But then you see many articles saying how blocking blue light can make you relax more, less alert, more able to sleep. In fact my understanding is that screens (computers, electronics) are advised against for most people with insomnia exactly because of they emit blue light.

I was going to stick with orange tainted stuff, lilke the feeling, but heard stories including on this forum how blue light therapy and blue tints help them a lot.

The only way I can make sense of this, is if somehow blue light is good during the day and at night switch to blue blocking eye-ware.

If there is conflicting information, that may mean there is specific issues that need to be considered. Often, alternative treatments have specific qualifiers.

Every brain injury is different. Maybe this applies here.

Maybe you need to find someone who understands tint issues.

I understand your confusion!
Blue light is the most complex for the brain to process in terms of vision. That is why many people with brain injury and concussion that had vision problems wear blue Blocker lenses. I do. It helps a lot.

I also had a blue light therapy machine . Pre injury! I inherited it from my mother-in-law who I bought it for but she was advised not to use it because she has cataracts . It is used for depression and for seasonal affective disorder .... Long winter days that have no sunshine ! But apparently it can damage the eye in some people. If you are using it for mood it may work as it is supposed to increase the neurotransmitters which affect mood. If you do use it, it should be relatively early in the morning. Otherwise it interferes with the body's natural production of melatonin which is the chemical that you have naturally that makes you sleep !
No wonder we are all confused !
Having said all that, I would favor lenses with the blocker in them. Essilor prevencia is just one brand. They look almost normal. Nikon has a blue blocking lens as well.

What happened: Legs pulled forward by a parent's hockey stick while resting at the side of the rink at a family skate....sent me straight back. I hit the back of my head (with helmet) on the ice, bounced a few times, unconscious for a few minutes. September 11, 2011. Off work since then…I work part-time at home when I can. It has been hell but slowly feeling better (when I am alone☺).

Current symptoms: Vision problems (but 20/20 in each eye alone!) – convergence insufficiency – horizontal and vertical (heterophoria), problems with tracking and saccades, peripheral vision problems, eyes see different colour tints; tinnitus 24/7 both ears; hyperacusis (noise filter gone!), labyrinthian (inner ear) concussion, vestibular dysfunction (dizzy, bedspins, need to look down when walking); partial loss of sense of smell; electric shocks through head when doing too much; headaches; emotional lability; memory blanks; difficulty concentrating. I still can’t go into busy, noisy places. Fatigue. Executive functioning was affected – multi-tasking, planning, motivation. Slight aphasia. Shooting pain up neck and limited mobility at neck. Otherwise lucky!

Current treatments: Vestibular therapy, Vision therapy, amantadine (100 mg a day), acupuncture and physiotherapy for neck, slow return to exercise, magnesium, resveratrol, omega 3 fish oils, vitamins D, B and multi. Optimism and perserverance.
