Default Vision therapy update

Thought I would fill all you interested in on the therapy thus far.

It is hard!

I am 56 and therapy reminds me of vision testing I did in grade school so I have had to eat some humble pie, unable to do in a timely manner or fail to complete some exercises in front of a pretty young therapist can strike the male ego a blow but it is about getting better.

I get headaches that are pretty ferocious after the office therapy, I take the day off and have to sleep it off some when I get home. My wife has to drive me home...an hour drive.

I have figured out which exercises for homework make me the angriest and I now save them for the last so I can work on the others in a calm and more successful manner. For some reason the cheiroscope work makes me get angry. By saving it for last it also allows me to focus entirely on calming down after completion and therefore I don't get to out of hand once I figured that out.

The prism glasses are taking some getting used to. The doc tells me my left eye is really fighting with prisms, it continues to want to return to its out of place view. I believe I am slowly adjusting to them.

Yesterday I went all emotional during an exercise and started balling. It was very nice to be working with a doc who understands the head injury patient...she neither treated me like a child or pushed beyond my limit at that point. I was able to take a break and regain composure and told her I hate quitting and did not want to move on till I had completed the task.

Hi Bud,
Sounds familiar. I am at week 30 with vision therapy, it is still a struggle going and coming home as I too am an hour away from where I get treatment and need a day to recover.

It does get easier. Doing the homework is the key. Results are slow but measurable, which is nice because not many of the symptoms we deal with are!

Almost,

Good to hear, thanks for the post and I am glad you are having success. MicroMan made a comment to me the other day..."Why is everything that is good for us kick us in the teeth."
Isn't that the truth.

IBR,

I am doing what amounts to physical therapy for my eyes..they ruled out any nerve damage other than the neves that control muscle of course and the injury is all muscular involvement.

My left eye looks up and out from norm. It is not working with the right eye. As well it has a difficult time focusing and remaining focused on an object. Some things dance around on me, contrasting colors and many items lined up like on a grocery store shelf.

The doc tells me that my brain gets very confused with the conflicting info from the eyes and then the left eye starts to shut down. I have wondered why i can drive for around 10 minutes with clear vision and then it all gets fuzzy....it's my brain protecting me from overload.
