I am just like him - I read every night and now I haven't read a book in almost 3 years. I only read news and articles.

i look at my kindle and the hundreds of books I have read. I will try to read again maybe it will go better.

Little steps. I'm on audio books and was terrified that if I did something wrong and lost my place, I would have a terrible time trying to find it again. Because I wouldn't remember what I read last anyways. The last three days seem to be different for me though. For the first time, I know where I'd need to pick up at. Chapter 6 of the boy in the striped pyjamas, and in Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson I am at a chapter called 'i have a sleep disorder and it's probably going to kill me or someone else'. By the way I recommend this book to anyone and everyone who has not yet read it. It is the lighter side of fighting with...well a lot of the things we're fighting with. It has totally brightened how I feel about all of this. If you can get your hands on it, you should. . I'm only partway through but I love it!

I can't read fiction at all. This linked blog/article is written in such a way that I can not read it. I need good sentence structure and paragraph structure or my mind gets lost. But, I can do fine with well written informational articles but sometimes I have to skim looking for key words to find the valuable information. I learned this skill from reading medical journal articles and other PubMed articles.

I used to get quite a few magazines about science, mechanics, but had to not renew subscriptions as writing/editing styles became too feminized. I do well with just the facts without the overly descriptive style that became common as they started pursuing women readers. Yeah, Guys are boring and read the boring stuff. Even Readers' Digest fiction became a struggle.

For me, 16 years has not changed my reading skills. So much for that part of neuroplasticity.

I hope others can hold on to reading fiction and other entertaining styles.

For me, audio books are worse since my audio processing is far worse than my visual processing.
