Hello. This is my first post. Im trying to see if anyone out there has experienced or has any information on my situation. Bullet points are:
- Im 32 and have been prescribed to adderall since I was 12. - I own and operate a tree service which lead to me falling out of a tree 6 months ago - Triple Hematoma, broken vertabrae, scapula, ribs, and lacerations. I've pretty much made a full recovery except for the title of this post. They do not work at all and my motivation and moods are just terrible. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

Hi Charborist
Welcome to NeuroTalk . I understand that stimulants like Adderall are sometimes prescribed for people post-concussion; is that what you are referring to? Best wishes.

Adderall (a combination of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine) can be addictive when used for prolonged periods.
You could describe your experiences of it in the Medications and Treatments forum (https://www.neurotalk.org/forum72/). Other members could have helpful insights there.

I think motivation and mood swings are quite common, I certainly did.
I would get a little short with my wife and lost my cool when I burned dinner which was frequent after I was sort of able to cook. I was home for 10 months and cooked for my wife who had to do mine and her job at our business. I added a few words to my vocabulary that I hadn't used prior to my accident, that ended after a couple years in my case. Bud |

I've had attention issues since my concussion (2 1/2 years now). I'm a web developer, and as I measure my performance throughout the week - I'm mentally sharper on monday than friday, and also better in the morning than after 8 hours of work.
One of the symptoms is increased difficulty concentrating (that and headaches, uggh....) Its possible your experiencing the same as me. Either way, you should speak with you dr. |
