Hi, Im new to NT. I actually have been a member of PC for a while, but I had a question I wanted to pose to you all here.
For as long as I can remember, whenever I cry...if I chew or clamp down my teeth, even a little while I'm crying I'll get this sharp, stabbing, zapping/burning like pain that starts in my head (temporal area) and runs down to my chin. It is only on the right side of my face, quite severe, but if I clamp down a few times, it will still hurt, but will lessen a bit...kind of like relieving pressure. I was just curious if this sounds like Trigeminal Neuralgia to any of you. I haven't spoken to anyone about it because I don't have an MD or insurance and I can never remember to bring it up. So I just wanted to get some feedback. Thanks all. ![]() |

Hi Maralyn,
I am new to the site as well. i hope you find comfort here as i have. i've been struggling with Trigeminal Neuralgia for a while now, but was just diagnosed several months ago. As someone who suffers from TN daily, I really don't think you would forget to bring it up to the doctor...this pain has interfered with every aspect of my life, and has lowered the quality of my life. Maybe when you cry, pressure is put on the nerve and causes it to fire. I really don't know, but I'm happy for you that it is only painful when you cry! i wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy! Take care, CW |

MaraLyn, I hope you are doing good.
It dose not sound like t.n. to me but it could be pre t.n. the fact that crying has to be present while chewing or clamping down doesn't really fit the symptoms. but I AM NOT A DOC . the pains from t.n. would surely be unforgettable and would make me bring it up for sure. T.M.J. or sinus would be my guess. do you grind your teeth at night? let us know how things have been going for you.I notice this is a few months old. PEACE BMW |

Did you know that TN is the worst pain known to man? I became a neurotic, shell of a person.I was dehydrated,
because of the fear of eating, drinking, and I would not speak. This was the darkest days I have ever known. I wanted to die and was on the edge of insanity. This is the true T.N.at it's worst. Bless, Doodle bug7 |
