Default Anyone know this doctor or hospital?

I have a nurse friend that has a patient with TN - he told her how he met this doctor and he changed his life. Wondered if any of you have been to him or that facility. Some interesting links too - some may already be on here.http://www.wpahs.org/AGH/neuro/jannetta/Announce.htm

I believe he is now retired, but has trained others to perform the same surgery. Maybe all mvd surgery is the same?

Dr Janetta is the doctor who first noted the vessel correlation and pioneered the MVD as treatment for TN back in the 60s. I am unsure of what his current record as a neurosurgeon is, but my guess is that he has done more of them than most other surgeons out there.

Yes, that would be my guess as well - after reading up on him. Of course, like FTB just said it is not feasible for most of us to go to the premiere medical centers due to insurance restraints. I would think by now that he has trained enough doctors to do the procedure that any well known facility should be able to do as well. I live in Nashville so if I were to ever reach the point of needing surgery I would go to Vanderbilt - providing I still have insurance.

Happy Thanksgiving to all out there, and hope your pain is minimal.

Hi Bassetcase,

I just returned home to Arkansas last Monday night after having successful MVD surgery in Pittsburgh by Dr. Ray Sekula who has worked along with Dr. Jannetta the past three years. I met Dr. Jannetta at the TNA conference in Dearborn, MI in 2007. Dr. Jannetta is now gone on sabbatical, and they don't know when he will return.

You can read my MVD story that I just posted. I am now at 10 days post MVD, off all medications, & have had no shocks since I woke up from the surgery.

All my best with your TN journey,

Judy

Default That is awesome news!!

Wow ! Who would have thought I would get such a timely response from someone who was just treated there! Congratulations on a successful procedure! I will read your other post now.

Thanks, and good luck with your recovery,
Rhonda
