My wife recently received generic Carbamazepine instead of brand name Carbatrol (Tegretol family). She has not yet started the generic. Does anyone have experience switching from brand Carbatrol/Tegretol to Carbamazapine?
I have read a number of various forum posts (not TNA) with claims of problems with the generic form. Although the medication is apparently the same there can be variations including potential issues with the extended release "mechanisms" being different. |

Hi Mr. Bill, I too have been taking the generic carbatrol for several months now and have noticed no change at all. Although, I am on a pretty low dose compared to most (200 mg daily) but they seem to work as well as the brand name did.
Good luck, I hope the same for your wife. Rhonda Quote:
