Hello Everyone,
I have had TN for almost 3 years now. I'm on Tegretol XR 400mg twice a day and Gabapentin 300mg three times a day and this has been working well. Last week my Primary Dr prescribed Zoloft (generic form) for depression and OCD. I started with half a pill for a week because I am very sensitive to medications. She originally prescribed something I can't remember the name of but I took it once and slept for two days. Anyway, ever since I started taking the Zoloft I have had more break through pain than I have ever had before. Mostly an aching in my jaw, tightness in my cheek and side of my nose and at it's worst rather intense pain in both my upper and lower teeth. My question is has anyone ever had experience or knowledge of an antidepressant reducing the effectiveness of TN medications or do you suppose it is just coincidence and time for an increase in the TN meds? I appreciate anyone's input and thank you! kate |

Most time it is the other way around and anti depression meds help reduce the pain or perhaps help one better deal with the pain . other things can make it flare up or it could be like you mentioned time to adjust T.N. med .
