Hello,
I have for some time had varying degrees of numbness on my face. Recently this winter I noticed gum and facial pain after being out in the cold weather (I live in NY). I can feel it begin about an hour after I come in from the cold weather. It can last from 1/2 hour to an hour and then recedes. Sometimes aspirin or tylenol helps. I also get twitches on my face and around my eyes. Now there is more to my story...last year I was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy. Turns out this was a side effect of a drug I was taking - Pravachol - a cholesterol lowering drug. I've stopped it and most of the burning pain and twitches in the rest of my body have receded. (FYI - most of the doctors refused to believe this was a side effect - an entirely separate story...) Now I have this facial stuff. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? These pains are not shooting and sudden like the literature describes. Is there a chance it is related to my earlier neuropathy? I would appreciate any advice from the group. Thank you. |
