Do you think that the B12 at that level would cause the red burning tongue and throat
Many thanks
It would appear that it's possible...

...however other causes are also possible, e.g other B deficiencies, oral thrush, glossitis, burning mouth syndrome, et al.

Since B12 is generally considered safe even in large amounts, I'd certainly try that first.

If it can't hurt to try it, then it can't hurt to try it.

R-Lipoic Acid (RLA) has been found to help many folks with burning mouth syndrome.
Google: red burning tongue lipoic
