Do the supplement companies NOT put out TV ads for some of the powerful important supps they produce? This is what a friend asked me yesterday at bridge, she takes grape seed ex and knows how I feel about it, her husband takes it too and she's sold on it.
Then went on to say: Since it's so great, why don't the OPC's companies advertise on TV....too expensive for these ads? Do the pharmacetical companies have a stronghold on supp producers to NOT put out the word on TV? For me, I have not bought or used a allergy/sinus drug in almost 20 yrs soon. Just think how many people use drugs for this worldwide health issue. Every now and then I might see an ad for calcium and even magnesium but it's rare....it's all pharma drugs. |

The FDA will not allow advertising to push their products.
SAMe is an exception...as it has studies the FDA accepts. But I do recall OPCs on TV 20 yrs ago. And NatureMade does advertise, but has to be very careful not to address treatment for specific illnesses for their products, other than SAMe. Krill oil is advertised, Previgen. There are ads on TV on cable on most stations during offtimes for various supplement products...but they have disclaimers attached to them most of the time. The most recent Coral Calcium hoohaa...was swiftly removed from sale and TV.

The FDA picks and chooses what they will. I never saw the OPC but back 20 yrs ago I hardly watched any tv, busy working and doing so much of my life. Even today, I don't turn my tv on until 6PM, weekends 7PM. NPR Radio gives me more truthful info.
A major pet peeve of mine is the world of fluoridation and last I heard FDA never approved that "toxin" for our public waters. Dentists and docs can write scripts for "F" but the fluoridationists have carte blanc to add it to our waters, their medication from toxic waste materials. Dentists can give children "F" gel baths on their teeth and my 18 yr old grandgirl showed me her dental fluorisis from the gel baths from her brainiack dentist. I'm been involved in the anti F issue since I first heard of it's dangers in 1991.... Crazy crazy world we live in. One has to use their brain and good common sense to make it thru. I am just ONE who experienced "damage" from FDA approved drugs. I read from 2010 numbers, over 100,000 deaths from FDA approved drugs. |

Supplement manufacturers cannot make CLAIMS for their supplements for treating illness... unless studies are in place for that. This means on their labels, or in ads in papers or TV.
