Lightbulb d-chiro inositol update:

Today was an illuminating day.

I got my test results from my last set of blood work.

The results:

My cholesterol has not gone up, from stopping Red Yeast Rice.
It is only mildly elevated. This is good. It does not satisfy my doctor, but it satisfies me.

My blood sugar went down 14 pts. It is still borderline, but better.
My C-reactive protein is normal
My lipoA levels normal... and this means those two risk factors are minimal for cardiovascular events (even with the slightly elevated cholesterol).

My A1C went down .2 pts. It is now 6.2. Which is in range for a 62 year old.
http://clinical.diabetesjournals.org...nt/24/1/9.full

This is with diet alone and the d-chiro inositol.
I have had insulin resistance for about 20 yrs. I have tried to control it with diet...but my family history is strongly diabetic and I felt I was doomed to become one as well.

So I am going to continue with the d-chiro inositol. I don't have "fertility" issues anymore obviously.
But I do see a tremendous improvement in skin tone. Less oil (I was very oily), and NO MORE facial hair. This alone is worth it IMO. My thinning hair at my temples has also reversed, and the gal who styles my hair noticed that right away!

D-chiro inositol is not inexpensive. It is costing me $85 a month. But testing strips, and drugs would cost far more than that.

I will know more in Oct, when I have my recheck.

I am glad things are looking up. I was reading on d-chiro inositol after you posted it. Interesting. Did you find this on your own or your doc recomended? I am just curious because I have never heard of many of the things here and who knows what is out there that can be helpful. It takes a lot of researching I guess. I hope things continue to get better.

No my doctor never heard of it... like many doctors.

I started following it on the net years ago. At one point there
was a university trying some genetic engineering for some plants to increase it so we could get it in food.

The PCOS community latched onto it, and about 2 yrs ago it
became available in capsules. (Prior to that, it was only available as a bulk powder).
It is just about equivalent to metformin for insulin resistance, and improves fertility with no side effects for PCOS patients.

It was my last "chance" before treating the increasing blood sugars and elevated insulin levels.

The drug companies are not showing an interest in it, since it is a natural substance and not patentable etc. Like many other things that we can use to improve health...we have to find ourselves!

I thought you found it for yourself. So frustrating. You are really knowledgable but for most people it is really hard to know and understand like myself. I have learned so much from you and others and am trying to do my own research but some is like Japanese to me. Well continued hope for better times

It is regrettable that this was not known, back when I could have used it. I could have used this to have more children 30+yrs ago.
As it turned out, I was blessed and very lucky to have my son, but that was a difficult and lengthy attempt. Back then PCOS was not understood very well, and Glucophage, which remains the primary treatment for PCOS was not available either. And fertility drugs were in their infancy (bad pun!)

What is nice about the d-chiro inositol, is that it has no side effects, unlike Glucophage(metformin) which can be agonizing to some with awful side effects.

Never too late Mrs D just kidding though I have no idea your age. Your son is lucky to have you. I'm an only and there is a very special bond I think with that, Anyhow I wish doctors would look more at these supplements. I do feel though on the patients front we want quick and supplements can take time but I am hoping a combo approach. Many thoughts

Thumbs up price reduction!

Shelley....you are so sweet! No diapers even! LOL

I was putting off ordering my renewal for Chiral Balance until after my blood work came back. I have one bottle of 60 left, but that will not last the summer while I am away.

Last time I looked it was still $85/60 about a month ago.

So I went on there today and guess what? It has come down to
$75/60 or 270/240! I just saved 50 bucks!

They have also put up a disclaimer on the order page..."must use correctly daily with no skips for it to work (this is for ovulation). So some must have complained or some new data is in the offing. Expect some results in 2-3 months of correct use. That is about when my facial hair started to recede.
The reduced androgen level is very apparent for me. (It was getting discouraging to be old in this regard). And my hair is thickening back up at the temples. Its nice to have a visible effect to hang your hat on-- this shows it is working.
