My bloods show one of my liver readings (big long words I cannot remember) to be very high and trending up over the years. As I have pains and no gallbladder my GP immediately referred me for a scan.

Having had colorectal cancer and a gallbladder tumour, and my Dad having colorectal cancer then dying of liver cancer at my age, this turns my thoughts to the worst case scenario - even though it is probably nothing.

when is your scan?

Hi bizi,

They rushed my scan through for next Friday - that is blisteringly fast for the small Clinic where I'm getting it done.

Found out the names of my high scoring tests - turns out there are 2 - Serum Alkaline Phosphatase and Serum ALT. Stupidly, I Googled possible cause…

Re your blisteringly fast appointment - sorry mate I think I can best you there. Monday this week I rang Rheumatology Dept at the hospital (big city one) to book a follow-up appt. Normally it's booked out about 6 wks ahead - 4 if you're lucky. As usual I had to leave a message. 1/2hr later they phone back and tell me there's a cancellation for 10am the next day and would I be able to make it at such short notice? . . . you bet. It was probably just a coincidence in timing of phone calls but it seems as though the system is working for us both for once.

I will be thinking of you friday.

I know that drinking sabotages my dieting efforts. I drank for 8 days the last time before abstaining again., like a relapse. this time is is 4 days so maybe better. I am getting ready to leave for vacation so will be off line for a week or so.
