Unhappy

thank you friends.
I just got up from a nap. (3-4 hour nap)
For lunch we went to the diner we like to go to on sundays.
Had my usual:
3 scrambled eggs with spinach and a side of brocolli and then a side of black bean salsa, heated, to put on my eggs. Delicious! and healthy.
Stopped by whole foods to pick up dinner. We will have flounder and asparagus. maybe a small salad to go with that.
I am going to try to eat healthy really healthy this week. As this weekend it was bad.
I appreciate your support.
Probably have gained a couple of pounds in 4 days of drinking, bloating etc.
In the absence of reason, it was a release to be "able" to drink after not drinking for 30 days.
Was I really suffering not drinking?
Having napped, Now I feel better.
Hubby is going to cook the flounder saute it and freshly steam the asparagus.
My day is gone.... It is 6 pm....I have slept it away. I could go to the gym tonight after dinner....or I could stay in and do paperwork, am behind in that again. or do both.
That would make me feel better about myself.
bizi
took a 2 mile walk around the neighborhood and did some paper work, making a night deposit. Nice with the cool air this evening!

Yesterday was a good day alcohol free.
So much more in control of what I eat.
Cheese burgers and fried pork steak! geesh.

Have you weighed yourself Bizi? That may get you back on the wagon! You've done so well, you can't gain it back - you're my inspiration.

Just don't ask me how I'm doing. Out of town company..... And it's been hot out - we're not used to hot. Would someone please tell the weatherman that we want our seasonal temperatures back? (today is cooler than it's been)

I guess we all have something that sets us off - summer parties, company, family stuff, etc. I guess the trick is to not let these things change the good habits we manage to acquire. Let me know if anyone figures out how to do that.

Thank you carol, I weighed 143 this morning....up 4 pounds since I weighed last week before my drinking july 1st.
I can't regain that weight either. I worked too hard to lose it.
I am to remain AF until saturday per my friends request, to be a support person to her. She is convinced that she is not losing weight because she is drinking. and she knows that is how I lost weight. So I will go to the gym tonight have not been in a long while. Will walk on the tred mill may try to jog a bit to test out my thigh. It has been 6 weeks since memorial day week.
I need to do some paperwork billing, hubby bought some stamps so that is good and helpful.
IT is just sitting down and doing the work!
bizi

I made it to the gym, jogged walked almost 2 1/2 miles in 35 minutes...
4 minute jog one minute walk intervals.

That's great that you're helping your friend. Good job at the gym - that time is impressive!

Today, we had a call from the transplant clinic with an appt for my husband next week. He's already done all the blood work and tests so once he sees the transplant team, he could get a kidney anytime. We're so excited. He's been on dialysis for 3 years now. He's remained pretty healthy and still works a 50 hour week so we've been very fortunate. It will be nice to be able to have a "normal" life again and not have to be home early for him to "hook up". Not to mention ordering all the supplies and storing them.

I might even convince him to start going for walks with me as I can't seem to find a walking partner. My favourite time to walk is in the evenings when everything slows down.

That is awesome that your hubby may be getting a kidney soon. wow! so you have been doing home dialysis?
is it just once a day?
I used to know about that but things have changed so much since I did regular nursing. tell me about how he does it?

He does peritoneal dialysis (PD). Before starting dialysis, under local anesthetic, he had a catheter inserted just under his navel. It is coiled and perforated on the one end. The other end is run under the skin for a couple of inches and then exits back out. This end is attached to a transfer set (approx 12" long) which has a screw-on cap on the end (mini-cap).

After a month, when everything has healed, you begin dialysis by filling the peritoneal cavity with dialysis solution (basically glucose water with some calcium & magnesium added) through the catheter. Since he isn't a large person (5'9" and slender), he only uses 1.5 liters. Every two hours and twenty minutes, the machine, which is called a cycler, drains out the fluid and then fills with more. This is done four times during the night, every night. During the day, he only has a small amount of fluid in his peritoneum.

He hooks up at 7:00 pm and then once drained and filled (15-20 min), can unhook until time for the next drain. At 6:00 am, he can unhook and is done until the evening. This is done every night. PD uses the peritoneal membrane as a filter. It's much easier on you than haemodialysis and more closely mimics natural kidney function and preserves the remaining kidney function.

When we travel, we take the cycler and the solutions with us. The cycler is about the size of a microwave oven and easy to carry as it comes with a shoulder bag.
