Default why we crave foods?

Sometimes I get extreme cravings for a certain food and have to have it, whether it is salty, sweet, carbs or even vegetables!

I've read that sometimes you will crave a food or vitamin/mineral that your body needs, but also that you can have these cravings if you have sensitivities or allergies to those foods too.

So how do you figure it out?
What kind of craving applies to you?

We can even talk about comfort food, stresses and other emotional issues of eating & cravings too.

It's carbs with me....always about the carbs. Bread, mac & cheese, spag, potatoes (not fries but everything else) My idea of a snack is a baked potato slathered with butter. I never crave sweets....like salty stuff but my downfall is carbs. ~sigh. This does not make me a bad person...just an overweight one.

Hi Jo, hi Alffe!! My craving is carbs too! In the form of Cereals, bread...with butter....and plain ol sugary....sometimes chips and cheesies too! Today I had fried egg sandwiches for breakfast.......2 of them....that is where I go wrong sometimes. I am too full now and it is bothering me!

I'm a carb freak too. From what I've read once in the system carbs convert to sugars which burn quickly and create a craving effect which is why we eat more and more. It takes like 3 days to a week to get them out of your system and then the "need" for them lessens. Just my 2 cents. HTH

I think a lot of my trouble happens when I don't take my vitamins- last week I only took them 2x.
I go too long in the morning without eating any breakfast, and by the time I do eat I am starving so eat way too much and feel bloated.

So I need to-
take my vitamins, supplements every day
eat smaller meals /healthy snack during the day

Do some indoor exercise/cardio/dance/yoga - one of these and make it a regular thing!
I will start out with 10 minutes every day.

I want the same things the rest of you do. Chips and ice cream are the worse. I have switched over to eating diet tv dinners, so I get my veggies in once a day. I also walked home from taking my car to the garage, then back, plus shopping today. That is going to be my exercise for this day. I got to walk more than I do tho. Its still hot out yet, but suppose to change starting tomorrow. The temps are suppose to drop 30 degrees in two days. Thats gonna be ruff.

I JUST LOVE CARBS! Chocolate carbs, icecream, coolies, any snack and anything I can put in my mouth. I just can't seem to quit eating or thinking about eating. guess sitting all day long day in and day out is part of my problem. Froggie
