We are having some truely beautiful fall days...cold at night but warms up to 60 in the daytime.

Well, it's a gorgeous day here in the desert. My petunia's have gone crazy and their blooms are so beautiful - pinks and purples. It has stayed warm and I guess will continue to be warm all week. This is good because we have company.

Thank goodness there has been no posting of cheesecake as I would have made it for my guests and then eat more than anyone. The WW diet is great as you have points to use for urges but it doesn't take much to use up all those points if you have cheesecake in front of you!

I NEED SOME HELP!! My best friend's husband is dying. Hospice is there and it is close. She said she only can "talk" to me through e-mails because if I come up (to Salt Lake City) or call, she will break down and she needs to be strong to get through her terrible days. What little messages could I send to her to give her just a few seconds to feel better? If anyone has examples, could you share them with me, please?

nancy, just a short email saying you love her and are thinking about her. that you will be there for her the second she is ready. and how proud you are of her and how you respect her wishes.

those are the words i wish i had heard when i was with my brother when he passed.

you are a wonderful friend for respecting her wishes. i know this tears your heart open.

Oh Nancy.. She needs to hear that she can do this...she can get thru it and fall apart later. She needs to be reminded that we are all woven together in this tapestry of life...and it's a never ending circle. I don't know if she is religious...Has she read The Five People you Meet in Heaven? I know that right now she's incapable of doing anything but "watching and waiting"...
She so fortunate to have you in her life.

Is her husband talking about his death? People often do this with Hospice care...is he having home hospice or is he in a place? I'm sure he's worried about her managing without him. It's so hard to say goodbye.

I just got home from Indy and seen a play. It was great but I am tired.

Nancy, the hardest thing I said to my husband was, "It was okay to go." He didn't last long after that. Much later, I thought," It wasn't okay though." I told him because I just knew he was hanging on, because of me and he needed to know, even tho I didn't mean it. I did it for him. It was one of the most unselfish things, I have ever done. We don't know this friend like you do, so you need to tell her what you think he would like to hear. it's to bad they are having to go threw this, but eveybody does sooner or later and its never easy.

I feel better today than I had been feeling but still got some of my cold. The weather was warm today.
