hi carla,

welcome. i can make a few suggestions.
eat when you're hungry and stop when you're full.
drink at least 8-10 glasses of H2O/day.
don't drink your calories.

watch portion control. don't eat white stuff like rice and bread.
plan for snacks to control hunger.

i don't cook very often but when i do i make enuf to freeze 6-10 meals.
then all i have to do is thaw it out, make a veggie etc.

i'm not perfect by any means. i have weight to lose. i know all the things to do but it's my "head" that i need to readjust to be more successful and that can only come from within.

the first thing i did when i got serious was toss stuff in my freezer and pantry that wasn't good for me. $$$, yes. but necessary. then go shopping to replace it.

eat breakfast. eat protein.
good luck with your efforts.

Hello Carla and welcome to NeuroTalk. As you can see, this place is huge and everyone here is very helpful and friendly. Nurse Nancy (our Judy) has given you some great advice. I used to find keeping a food diary very helpful, as I didn't realize just how much nibbling I was doing on a daily basis. That's from my old days at WW's.

If you'd like you can go to the New Members Introduction Forum and write a little bit about yourself. Many members will see it there and welcome you.

But, by all means, please look around and make yourself at home. Glad you found us.

Good luck.

Hi Carla

I'm Donna and its something that you just have to keep pulling along.

Take each small amount you lose and rejoice with it. Then it will become
bigger amounts.

I know that I've been working on my weight loss for a while now.
And I am just working through health issues that are going to be
much better thanks to my surgery being over. So exercising, will
be starting again.

But some here kept telling me what kind of things to eat. How to
go about it. And definately to drink lots of water.

So the one thing I've splurged on is bottle water. Because I hate
or tap water. And we also have a ice and water dispenser in our
refrigerator. So I refill the water bottle all day. But its the little
things for me.

I used to eat a lot of soup, and salads. Because they didn't seem
to bother my stomach, and I am still doing so. Afraid to move on
much.

But I'm going to suggest you name some of your favorite foods,
and we have a few that give recipes that are better for us.

Donna
