Question gaining more weight

I have a question about gaining weight on a medicine.
Is it bad to be gaining a lot of weight on a medicine?

Hi DK!! I gained weight when I started taking the anti depressant effexor....to the tune of 40 pounds!! My old doc said it is all in my head and that the meds made me happy and happy people eat...I really do not know about alot of other meds but hang in there for an answer....keep posting...and it would likely help more if you mentioned what medicine you are on. Hope you find your answer!

LOL Dorrie, I thought I was fat because Im always sad and try to eat to try to feel better and look, your doc said happy people eat !

Kristina: Lyrica made me gain weight, I think it was because it made me retain water

I dont know, maybe you have to look the good things vs the bad things of taking the medicine...

Side effects can be really annoying (and some of them dangerous actually) but what could we do if we need the medicine !?

Prednisolone makes me super hungery all the time and I eat anythiing and everything in the house. I have to be carefull whats in my cupboards. I have just decreased the dosage and hopefully this will help stop me being so hungry all the time.
Its so hard being on all these differrent medications that do strange things to our bodies.

Most anti depressant medications will make you gain weight (and that makes you even more depressed) I think it just slows the metabolism; you just need to be on constant diet i.e. self control

I have gained a lot taking meds, and just went on a major diet and lost 100 lbs in 6 months. It was a very tough diet

Seroquel always makes me gain at least 10-15lbs. Then I level out on it and don't gain anymore.

It is possible to lose the weight while on the med. I lost 50lbs while being on Seroquel.
