Default A Friendly Hello To All This Morning~

Hows everybody today? Is the weather keeping everybody cold? It was 11 degrees here early this morning. All is fine on the farm. I went out to see if the furnaces are running, and Yes they are.

My blood sugar is running high again today. Doc said if this continues, I'll have to give myself inslin. For those who don't know I am a diabetic and have been for years. It has already damaged my nerves. I must keep a close watch on it and get on the treadmil today. I am going to do all I can to bring it down.

I am thinking about going shopping this afternoon. It is to cold this morning. I haven't even got a good start on it, but I think I know what I will get & that is half the battle.

I hope this is a good day for you all.
Hugs,
Billie

Default Ditto!!!

Happy Monday all! Thought I would pop in and say hello before jumping back in bed to catch some more zzzz's. I am NOT an early riser and I had tummy problems all night. Guess it's my IBS acting up.

I feel bad for Jan and her mouth surgery today. That is awful surgery and she will be in pain unless they have yet another new method to use! My step-daughter, who is 32 and has a BS in education decided to be a dentist so she is now in pre-medicine classes before she tries to get into a school. Both of my hubby's kids are super smart, Brian, my step-son is a veterinarian. My oldest son is pretty smart but goofed off in high school so it's hard to tell. And my youngest gave up on school after a horrible 4th grade teacher kept calling him an idiot. Those teachers need to go away!

There I go rambling. I can't remember if I told you all that I have 3 MRI's scheduled for Thursday. They want to take another peek at me to see how things are going. I'm having a few more problems and they want to make sure it's not serious. So I wait. Fun. Is it Thursday yet?

Well, back to bed for me. Catch you later. I have a computer problem too. Who is the computer whiz - Bitzi????

Hugs to all,
Nancy-H

howdy all.

now billie you take cae of yourself. watch that blood sugar. how long have you been diabetic? and don't over do it. you need to pamper yourself.

i will be around as much as possible christmas eve and christmas day. i know how stressful it can be. my daughter is coming home for the holidays. woohoo! but she will only be here a few days.

i'm sorry your ibs is acting up nancy. i had done some research on ibs for a member of the club. one of the studies showed the weight gain due to ibs was the body storing as much fat and nutrients( water too) as it could, because of the short time that food stayed in the system. get some rest. i hope you feel better.

i'm a wimp. i can't handle dental pain. any other pain...yes. i can handle natural childbirth...repeatedly. lol. but put me in a dentist chair...and i freak out. poor jan. i'm praying for you sweety. no pain and a fast recovery.

oh and nancy...pop over to the computer forum and post your computer probs. they are awesome!!

good morning...well actually afternoon!
I am terrible with computers sorry nancy.....

Billie,
You may know all this already:
I think that exercising is so good for us for both mental and physical reasons.
Not only does it speed up our metabolisms it also reduces stress and we become more flexible and have more endurance for everyday activities.
One of my clients was able to get off his insulin and lose weight by going on a strict diet...I think it was the grapefruit diet.
The only quick acting foods he ate was a half a grapefruit with every meal.
Then he ate salads, veggies and meat.
I think it is probably like the low glycemic diets out today.
Like the south beach diet or even Dr. Gotts no flour no sugar diet.
Another friend of mine lowed his cholesterol when he started eating MORE eggs.
He has 3 eggs every morning for breakfast. He also exercises everyday.
I have read that by eating more vegatables, fiber, nuts, protein, eggs, fish, cheese, yogurt, that they help to keep your blood sugars more stable because it takes a while to digest them....so the energy from these foods is more slowly released if that makes sense... Where as white flour foods start dissolving in your mouth and quickly raise your blood sugar and it is this quick raise that effects your cholesterol levels too. Also the quick raise and then drop is when we feel "hungry".
That is why it is so important to have some sort of protein thru out the day...to help keep our blood sugars as stable as possible so that we don't feel hungry. Also, I know alot of my elderly clients who don't eat enough protein that have problems with swelling/edema of the lower legs...the cell's there can lose itheir integrity and can't hold the fluid where it needs to be in the cell, so it leeks out of the cell into the space around the cell and can cause "pitting" edema...sorry if that is too much info....
Not only can this help me to lose weight but also because I can get hypoglycemic/ low blood sugar where I am just a crazy woman from waiting too long to eat something....My hubby doesn't like it when I get so crabby!
Fiber also is so important, I eat high fiber breads(natures own), tortillas(tortilla factory) and (kashi) high fiber cereal that also has added soy protein.
Did you know that soy beans are the only vegetable that is a complete protein all by itself? Soy is what they add to most diet foods with added protein.
I hope that I am not offending you with this information ...I just wanted to share some info if you did not already know the WHY'S to how protein works on stabilizing your blood sugar.

Again I am not a doctor and I am not advocating eliminating any particular food group...I just know from experience that for some people following a low glycenic diet can mean all the difference for them losing weight and lowering their blood sugars.

There is a great book called protein power by a husband and wife team, Dr. Eades.

Sorry
This is longer than I thought...

Good morning all...well it is 12:09 so I guess it is afternoon. I have been staying away from the puter lately because my left hand is starting to ache and burn like the right one so I have been taking it easy. I don't know what I will do if the left side gives out

Billie, I hope you don't have to start the injections for your diabetes. Everytime they would mention that to my mom she would change her diet and get a little exercise to keep her sugar where it needs to be. She did not want to give herself shots and I didn't either

Nancy, 3 MRI's at once! You will be a sore one after that. Hopefully you will get good news though...well we can hope can't we

Bizi and Curious, hi to ya both. You two are always so uplifting in your posts. I really appreciate it and I am glad you are here.

Well, I am off to do laundry because if I don't do it, it don't get done. Have a great day everyone...Sue

Hi everyone,

Well, today I signed the papers today at my lawyer's office. Then I ate like a pig after getting home. I guess my nerves are bad from all these changes going on but I know that life is not always going to be fair so I need to get tough on myself. At least I tell myself that when feeling hopeless after pigging out.

Bizi, I got a lot of out of your post. I guess if I ate more protein throughout my day I'd be a lot better off.

Arrow Bizi~

Some of what you wrote fit me, but most does not. My insurance won't let me have what works for me (Actos). It is $115.00 a month. I don't exactully feel elderly. I turned 65 in August. I am very active. Most on here are telling me to slow down. Since my husband passed in July I have took on a lot. I am always busy and having company. My legs don't swell with edema either. I have Perpheral Neuropathy do to probably Diabeties. I have had it near 20 years. I kept telling the Dr and he would test me & it wouldn't show up. My last A1c my count was 5.8. Thats good is you aren't familar with the test. It was done Nov. 16, so not long ago. I have lost 33 pounds since July.

My Neuropathy has made my feet numb on the bottem. I have a friend that is much highter count, on insulin, and doesn't have Neuropathy. Go figure! I must get on the treadmill more tho. That pic of me that Jan post every once and awhile, was taken quite some time ago. She puts me on a gurney and fills my bottem part in herself. The picture is fake. Watch what you send her, she is good, and will RUN with it, meaning no harm, only a laugh. Jan, if you read this, you are still my angel & a very good friend. I sure hope you aren't in pain tonight.{{{{{{Gentle HUG'S JAN}}}}}}

I am not offeded Bizi, & I do eat ice cream in the summer & shouldn't. I don't like eggs after owning a chicken layer farm, where we had 8,200 laying hens. That is work and we process the eggs too.

Thanks for reminding me of the greatfruit tho. I will buy some and see what happens. I ALREADY EAT MEAT & VEGGIES. Thanks for writting.
God Bless,
Billie

5.8 A1C is fantastic!!!!
why was your doc threatening insulin then????
That is why I wrote what I did.
I am sorry that your insurance wont pay for what works for you...could your doctor write for a letter of exception?
You are doing so well and I am sorry if this came across wrong.
I think you are doing great what you are doing and you are grieving for the lose of your sweetie.
This has to be so hard.
and NO 65 IS NOT Elderly!
