How's your volunteering at the hospital going, Judy? Are you getting to work with the babies? I know how much you love that.

it's was chaotic last wk. i got there and the volunteer, the head of that area, didn't know anything about a "nursery monitor". no staff on the units on the floor knew anything. the NICU was closed because they didn't have any pts.

so i sat in a store room for 2 1/2hrs and made charts for L&D.

needless to say it was less than stellar. i work tomorrow so i'll see what happens. my motto is to hold my tongue, be flexible and do what i can to help.

i'll let you know. i have to say that getting up at 0630 is a shock to my system.

i know i have been absent for a while so i'm checking in.
my eyes are bothering me very much. between the cataracts and the dryness it's very irritating. and hard to see still.

then i have developed this nasal thing. (something else to put up with and yes i'm having a good whine) i get a scratch in my throat, my eyes water, i cough because i have post nasal drip, my nose runs and i have to clear my throat for about 30 min. it happens over and over and is driving my crazy. worse than my eyes. i see an ENT on thurs.

otherwise things a good. i feel good. my friend comes for a wk on fri. we'll be doing a lot of things but we could do nothing and say nothing and we're content just to be in the same room together. we miss each other so much. still no sale on her house so she's stuck in NJ.

then, the Jersey Boys are coming to a theatre in Jacksonville in march and 10 of us are going. i'm soooo excited about seeing it. and, we got great prices because 10 people = a group so we got a group rate.

that's about it. hope you all are good.

my eyes were really bothering me so saw the eye dr this am.
my Lt eye is legally blind now. the cataract is going very fast the the other eye will be fast to follow.

so, the surgery is set for the last wk this mo. it'll heal a few wks then we'll do the other eye. and they were very dry and irritated. he put plugs in the tear ducts and hopefully that will help.

saw the ENT dr also (OY). she thinks it's worsening reflux and changed my meds. she started to snake a camera down my vocal cords and i started choking so that ended quickly.

now i'm home to rest and cathy comes in 24 hrs!

I hope your cataract surgery goes well and you can retain the vision in your eye.

I also hope you and your friend have a wonderful visit. If your weather is anything like what we're having here in North Georgia then it will be perfect for getting out and enjoying yourselves. I wish it could be like this year round.

Did the hospital ever straighten out the volunteering schedule so you can help with the babies? It's so frustrating to be donating your time and energy and the very folks that you're there to help seem to not know what's supposed to be done. That would be totally aggravating to me.

I've got the sinus thing going on, too, but I think it's from the change in temps. It's very chilly at night but warm during the day. I can be just fine and then I'll start coughing and it's several minutes before I return to "normal" or whatever it's called. Coughing - then sneezing - then blowing my nose. Ugh! I'm not complaining, though. After the hot summer we just had I'll put up with it!

i guess we're experiencing a noreaster. it's very rainy here but i'll take that any day over snow. it's a shame for my friend. she just left that in new jersey.

work has ironed out the "duties" i do. i'm still not in the nicu but hope it works out that way soon. i sit outside the ob unit and let people into the area with my ID badge. a little boring but i don't have to stand or walk too much.

i just heard on CNN the other day that they're predicting a bad winter with lots of snow, especially in chicago. gosh, i hope not.

oh my, did you hear that thunder? better go before my power goes off.

i had my cataract surgery and it went well. i can now see 20/30 and before it was 20/2200; legally blind in that eye. it's such a pleasure to be able to read the print on the TV. i can see the headlines on CNN and will be able to see the football scores on sun. yay.

i'm doing the other eye in a few wks, then i'll just need reading glasses. wow.

i fell in the bathroom the other day. both my legs totally gave out. i see the neurologist tomorrow. and my hand jerks are pretty bad. this is just like the fall i had last yr. legs collapsed. we'll see what he says.

hope you all are ok. take care.

Glad to hear your eye surgery went well. I hope the other is just as uneventful.

That's my biggest fear......falling in the bathroom. My left leg gives out on me sometimes but not both of them at the same time.....yet. I hope the Neuro can do something for you.

How's your weather down in FL? We're waiting for a blast of cooler air to come in this weekend and it's finally going to feel like Fall for a little while anyway. I'm ready for cooler weather but not the Winter deep freeze.

i saw the neuro this am. he wasn't worried. since both times happened during the early am hrs his advice was to have my walker near my bed and to make sure i'm wide awake, not drowsy when i start to walk. ?????

he just wasn't concerned. IF it ever happens again i'll be more insistent that we look for a cause.

i've got bad pitting edema in both my legs and the cardio increased my dose of diuretic. otherwise wasn't concerned about what i feel is a low BP and my heart rate in the 50's. i guess if no one is concerned i won't be either.

FL has been very nice and sunny with temps about 80, very tolerable.
there's a front coming the next few days.
denver was 80 and the next day dropped to 30 with snow. i'm so glad i don't live there anymore. i'll have to laud it over my friend. she'll never leave. she's a native. and, a die hard bronco fan.

i have my 2nd cataract surgery tues. i'll be glad to have both corrections and to finally see out of both eyes, and to be rid of eye drops. anotherd 3-4 wks.
i'm doing chores i won't be able to do for a few wks.

nice to have my hairdresser wash and style my hair.
now if i could just find someone to get rid of my coccyx pain so i could sit more than 30 min's i'd be able to do computer stuff and stay here longer.

i'll check in next wk. i've already seen more dirt than i remembered and have gotten the canister vac out to get in the corners. and, i've seen some cracks in the walls. this is a relatively new house so someone will be out to check it.

don't do anything i wouldn't do
