At a recent neurology conference, a discussion was dedicated to optoelectronic interfaces to the brain; was very impression and pausibly not very far from practicle applications. Until recently these interfaces tended to produce quite a lot of heat but shrinking size and lower duties cycle frequencies may lead to practicle human 'implants.'
