Hi BF!
I have been thinking of you and hoping
you would check in. I didn't know if you
would have electricity or not.

I AM HAPPY YOU CHECKED IN AND ARE OK!!!!

The storm line you spoke of started just NW of where
I live and quickly moved and worsened as it did in
your direction. We had lots of thunder, lightning,
and about an inch of rain.

Your area received much worse.... I've heard that there
are thousands without power and may not get it back
for a week or more. The news showed trees bigger
around than cars uprooted. Cars and houses destroyed.
We had several houses struck by lightning...keeping
fire departments busy. 5 houses in 1 area but only 2
were complete losses.

I'm not complaining.... things could be worse. I have a friend
in Colorado that I still am unable to reach. Her house is in
the fire zone. I just pray they got out....and the cell towers
are down.

Thank you abbie. I guess I'm feeling a little rejection, and depressed. I was surprised when the lights came on today. I was worried that the transformer of the house could be blown. The power surged, then brown downed over, and over again, and I was concerned that my electronics could be damaged.

Fireflies are out tonight. They are blinking in the yard. A small thunderstorm just went over us. I guess the Fireflies like the humidity. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Dear Friend,

Thank you for checking in. I thank goodness that you are ok.
Today was the first time I ever heard of a "derecho." I had to look it up:

How long did it take the two of them to pass through your area?

Hi, Steve,

I hope you are feeling O.K. I liked your words about fireflies so I am posting a picture.

Steve

So glad you are okay.

I was in NW Indiana close to Hammond/Chicago area when the storm hit.

The first night we lost the satelite for the tv, but compared to the damage
it seems it did to the airport over in Chicago area. I wont complain.

Oh and their was hail hitting our hotel window, and we saw on the news
that their was golf ball hail in the area. So glad I was safely in my room
and not in the mess.

The next day we were driving around, trying to find the right exit. My
husband was sure he remembered right. He didn't.

But got caught in the worst downpour, we had a mess, but the area, just
like our area, really needs it. So no complaints. Then we saw hail again.

THen after a while it disappeared again. I heard on the radio, that a tree
or two had hit a vehicle with aperson inside. So they were trying to get
the person out. I was just so glad it wasn't us. And started saying a
prayer for the person.

We found the casino, after the rain, and went in. It rained somemore while
we were inside.

It rained that night. And it was nice the way home. Hit again when we
got home. Downpoured for about 15 minutes just long enough to scatter
the folks from the festivities uptown.

I also have to say I had for some reason worried about leaving
the dogs home. Because of a fire.

I can't explain why.

But, there was a fire, just down our road, the house and garage were
a complete loss.

The family of 5 got out. Thanks to one of the adults waking up.

I am so thankful the whole town is working to help them. But it
was sure nice to come home to a house.

Hey Mari. I have no idea, because it was so strange. I heard the wind blowing at the South West side of this house. I got up off of the sofa, and didn't know what it was because of the windy noise that was blowing hard against the house. I didn't know what to do. I stood there. Then at some point it stopped. I was sort of shocked, and didn't know what this weather phenomenon was. Then we had a second one. The winds where blowing, and not stopping. I heard the oak tree in the southwest area near the house blowing very violently. I was hopeing at that point that the tree wouldn't come down on the house,in the part that I live in. Then the power went out, then came back on. Then it started flickering from on,to off about 20,to 25,or 30 times. Then I worried that this might have harmed the houses transformer. I also worried about my electronics that where gripped by the power surges, and brown downs. The power came back on about 12 hours later.

I went outside to see if my antennas where still there, and they where. I saw lightning going horizontally out of the clouds that flew by where is was. I have a 21 foot antenna on top of about 20 feet of mast,on top of the chimney. I put guide wires on the mast so it wouldn't blow down about several years ago. My other 5 antennas stayed in their places.

I find myself depressed. We have so little control over most things if you really think about it. Somethings bothering me,and it's getting worse. I think that I will try to get some more sleep. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Oh yes. I have never heard of a "derecho" before either. It came out of the North West. It rapidly moved over the mountains, and blew to the coast,DC,and other areas.

Our Governor said this event put out more power then any other event in Virginia history, that was not hurricane related. Did I say this right. I'm feeling a little confused:confused: BF:hug::hug::hug:

I think that the news said that about 4 people died in this"derecho". Trees crashed onto cars, and houses. One person said that he saw a big tree that looked like it had been twisted around the trunk of the tree, and it hit the ground.

I don't want to go through another one of these. To many things could go wrong. BF:hug::hug::hug:
